Trying to Conceive with a Mental Illness

Hi All, I am turning 44 on January 21st and my DH & I are just starting out TTC after I had a blighted ovum 2 years ago. The tricky thing is that I am Bipolar and have to take a cocktail of medications. I'm working closely with my PDOC and OB/GYN and it looks like I'll have to remain on the Category C meds because the benefits outweigh the risks - but I am concerned as I'm sure you understand.
My question is whether anyone else out there has similiar issues, I have found only one slow-moving board over at the Baby Center but it is a Godsend for support. And the other thing is I would like to post the link there to invite others who may be going through the same thing but should check here that it's alright?

hi, welcome!!! I think its great that you are on meds and working with your dr. regarding all this. I suspect my mother may have been bipolar, she never would stay in treatment long enough to help and committed suicide at 48. I worried about myself and having children because of this for many years. I think it would be fine to invite someone else to this board, I really don't know if you have to check with any "powers that be" or not, maybe someone else will know. good luck and keep posting!!!

Hi Kim, thank you so much for getting back to me. I'm so sorry to hear of your mother. Yes, it's a tough thing to deal with this Bipolar, but I am working really hard at staying well. Finding support on forums is so helpful - I don't feel so alone with this.
