Trying for the first time at 40 years old...
Sun, 01-16-2011 - 3:57pm

Hello everyone,

Due to health reasons I have never been able to even consider trying to become pregnant. I suffered from daily migraines since the age of 22 and they have recently almost stopped. Seeing as I could not take any meds during pregancy, I just could not consider getting pregant because my migraines were horrible to endure.

I am thus just now starting to try to get pregnant, but after 4 months of trying I am still not pregnant. I have used the ovulation monitors and I know that I ovulate, but even though if we have had sexual relations during those peak times I have not become pregant yet.

Hi Gen,

I'm also 40 and TTC, this is month 4 of trying for me and just got AF! I don't think its neccessarily true that if you haven't conceived after 6 months you're infertile - this article gave me some comfort:

But I would recommend

Thank you everyone for all your support and kind words.

I just started my menstrual cycle today, so once again I am not pregnant.

However, I had been taking the pill for the past two years, so maybe that's it.

Hi Gen and welcome to the board. I sympathize with you on the migraines. I don't have them daily but still have around 10 a year and they really take a toll on you.

Were you using birth control

Hi Ginny and welcome!!

I can understand not wanting to "force" things, but there are some simple procedures/tests that an OB-GYN can order that can help figure out what is happening.

You might go to the fertility doctor and decide on what you want from there.

I have diminshed ovarian reserve and there is a little chance of me getting pregnant with my eggs without using drugs and IVF.
