ttc after at 44, new here

Hi My name is Nancy. I am 44 yrs old. My husband (36) & I both have been married before and have children from previous marriages. I have twins that are 22 and my dh has 3 girls ages 12,10, & 7. And we have an angel who is 8 months old in heaven. After we got married decided we wanted to have a child together , I was 41 at the time. WE have been pg 3 times in last 3 years, got pg very easily with no medical help at all. First 2 ending in m/c's. Which dr. figured out why and when I got pg 3rd time everything was great. However, our daughter was stillborn at 37 weeks due to an umbilical cord accident. She was perfect and beautiful. We have now been ttc once again for almost 7 months experiencing infertility. We decided to seek medical advice about 2 weeks ago and found out I have underactive thyroid which is causing my problem. I am on medication to get it under control. Dr. said it might take a few months but all the other testing he did looked great. he said there is no medical reason i should not be able to conceive again, that they can tell at this point. When thryoid levels are back in normal range they will run test again to be sure. I am so glad that I found this board. It is hard to talk to anyone about ttc because most people do not understnad why we are still trying with 3 losses and my age. I am more determined than ever now.

Looking forward to getting to know some of you ladies.

Thank to all of you who responded, your kind words about my loss mean alot to me. I have felt very cheated to have lost my beautiful daughter at this point in my life, when we so wanted her so badly and planned for her. The 2 m/c's were disappointing enough, but when we got pg that 3rd time and actually made it past the 1st Trimester, we were estatic..thought we were home free. Thanks to you all for the encouragement. I am looking forward to getting to know your stories of ttc.

Hi Nancy,

Fisrt I want to say how sorry I am for your losses especially your beautiful little girl. I can not even begin to find the right words. I had 2 m/c's and can't even imagine how hard it is to get as far as you did to have that happen. It is devastating. We will be praying for you and your angel.

It is good that the DR. found out about your thyroid because that can cause many problems with TTC & PG. The good news is with the meds it can be easily controlled and you should be on your way to success very soon.

Keep us posted on your progress.

++++++Prayers & ++++++vibes coming to you!!!+++++++++

Welcome to the board. I am so sorry for your loss. I can't even begin to imagine how difficult that must have been.

This board has been pretty active lately which is great. I really helps to talk to people in your same situation. The odds are not in our favor.

I am 42 quickly approaching 43 and TTC my first. My DH is 41 and has a 17 year old. I had a m/c last June at 8 weeks. We got married when I was 40 and also wanted to have a child together. Needless to say it has been a rollercoaster.

I am thinking I could be PG this month as my chart (previous post) looks very positive. I am still a little early to test. Even if I am, it is so scarry to think about the chances of another m/c.

All the best to you.
