Weeeeelllll....for now, there's 2 bebehs! Both have heartbeats, but Baby A is much smaller than Baby B (as in 1.78mm compared to 3.22mm). They could only hear Baby B's, and it was 102 bpm. I wish it were higher because it's right on the cusp of what he said was normal (100-120), but he said it was fine. They were having issues with the machine I think in getting good audio of the heartbeat, so maybe it really is higher. Part of me wonders though if we couldn't really see/hear much because the visiting resident was doing the u/s, and I think she was having a hard time in general. The regular RE didn't jump in and take over, and I didn't want to ask him to do it and look like a jerk, so I just took him at his word that everything looks good so far.
Regarding the sizes, he said different embryos grow at different rates and the differing sizes might not mean anything at all and they could both grow to be perfectly healthy. I think the fact that we could see the heartbeat is a good sign, but I know I'll be wondering if it will catch up or not in these next 2 weeks before the next appointment.
I'm 6w3d today and he gave me an EDD of 10/2 (but if both babes stick around, it will likely be earlier than that).
Next appointment is February 23 in the afternoon.
