got the ball rolling on ivf #3
Thu, 08-09-2012 - 10:02pm

After 2 failed attempts at a fertility here in Trinidad I decided to contact Barbados Fertility Clinic, today I had my first consult. My dh and I are planning on doing a cycle in February of next year but I wanted to get the ball rolling now. The consult went well, the plan is to stim here and then do the actual ER and transfer in Barbados, so it is like a mini  ivf vacation! The next step is to wait for af which will be in September to do my blood tests and have my dh do a SA, we're a trying to do any blood test we can do prior to starting my ivf cylce because they can be so expensive when added up together.

The bad news is that this clinic's ivf with icsi cylce is $5000. (Trinidad and Tobago dollars) more than our old clinic and I have no clue as to what and how expensive my stims are going to be. Plus we have to factor in Airfare and accommodation to Barbados so it is adding up to be alot! Of course we are taking a bank loan so it is a little daunting, we have taken loans for ivf before but not as expensive as this.

I'm excited! hopefully the third one is the charm!

Amanda ~

That's great that you met with the new clinic and things are getting set up! A little mini vacation around transfer doesn't sound bad at all =) Sorry it's more expensive than the previous cycles at your old clinic. Hopefully this round of IVF is THE one, keeping everything crossed for you!!!

I am happy for you to get things going. Sorry the cost of everything is more than before, but maybe the mini IVF vacay will bring you extra luck. It's nice that you are able to start planning things now!! Looking forward to updates.

Yay for getting the ball rolling! If i didn't have insurance (or when I run out) I would LOVE to go to Barbados Fertility Clinic. It would be an awesome vacation IVF. lol And its cheaper than doing it in the states. Sorry its more expensive for you. :/

Sending you lots of luck and baby dust!!! February will be here before you know it!
