Repeat HSG this week- nervous!

I had an HSG in 2009 during my first round of IF treatments and it was normal.  My left tube was slow to fill but everything looked clear and like it should.  Fast forward 3 years to a new RE and she wants to do another HSG (can't figure out why since my first one was clear), so I have it scheduled for Wednesday.  I'm nervous all over again now, even though I've had it done.  I don't remember it hurting at all (I know some have lots of pain) so I have that going for me, but am worried that this time WILL hurt, etc...  I keep telling myself that the sooner I get it over with, the sooner I can schedule my consult for the IVF (hoping to consult right after xmas and start BCP in January).  Hope my new RE will be on that same schedule!

Anyone have more than 1 HSG done?  What was your experience?

Me (36) DH (38)- me-unexplained IF/hypothyroid -DH-counts good, but volume is low; Married in 2006, off birth control pill. Started officially trying in March of 2009.
2 rounds clomid/ovidrel 2009, 1 round femara/iui, 2010, 2 rounds follistim/iui 2010. Weight loss surgery 2011.  Back to new RE 2012: HSG normal, AMH 0.43= DOR; IVF with microdose flare protocol in February 2013.

I've had one HSG.  I took a couple ibuprofen beforehand just in case, but I never experienced any pain.  I've heard that the dye running through the tubes can be beneficial to clear a minor blockage, so it can't hurt to have another one.  Good luck.

I've only had one HSG done and I didn't have any cramping worse than AF during the procedure or after.  Hopefully yours won't hurt again.  I've heard of REs repeating them after a number of years since the last was done.  The good news is that some studies say your fertility is increased for the six months following one =)  Good luck!!!

Thanks Caryn! I'm hoping to get all my bloodwork back tomorrow or Thursday as well and have some answers prior to going in to my ivf consult.

Well it's done!  Thank goodness!  Not too much pain, just a little crampy.  Afterwards pretty bad cramps but for about a half hour only.  My uterus looks good, both tubes are clear but she said the right one may have some adhesions.  nothing huge. Good to check this off my list and will call tomorrow to make appointment for consult for ivf!

Happy it's done and you didn't have much pain!  Good news that everything is clear with only some minor adhesions.  Keep us posted on the IVF consult...so exciting =)
