Just a quick update. I have pcos and have officially moved into the infertility catagory. Took lots of blood because of that and should have the results tomorrow. So now I have to find a doctor closer to me so I can talk about treatment options. She also told DH to go in for a SA. I will tell everyone more when I have more time.

Katie, I'm glad you found an RE that sounds like she might be right for you. I wouldn't be thrilled either about being told that you're in it for the long haul. At least you're making the right steps now and getting support here. Hopefully they'll be wrong and you'll get things managed with your thyroid and anything else quickly and be able to get that BFP so quickly it shocks even the RE!

I had my follow up appt with the new doctors to review the results of the blood tests and to talk about what the next step is going to be. She told me that I need to make an appt with a re and to come back when I am pregnant or for my next anual. I just have too many factors against me to concieve without being monitored throughout my cycle. Like my thyriod levels keep on elevating, the not ovulating every 28 to 36 days (although she looked at the charts and said I have ovulate during each cycle, the eggs are probably just too old by the time they are released), etc. She gave me the names of three specialists in my area, who also happen to be some of the best in the country, and told me to consider how much I really wanted this because I will be in it for the long haul. Not the greatest start to my val day, but I can't complain too much since my husband went with me for support and made the rest of the day really special. Now, after a night of insomnia, I think I found the right re for me , she has even had fertility problems herself so she knows how her patiants are feelingand am willing to at least get the rest of the testing done to find out what I need to do. I have even started to tell family members so they stop asking.

Katie, I hope the 6 step plan works! I hope you get on some meds that work! I think you've got a great plan figured out. I have a hard time getting over the thought of having infertility problems which I'm thinking is the case at this point with our discussion that I would need help as well to get pg. I just try to stay positive and I've put it in God's hands at this point and I'm trying to let God worry about it and not me.

((Hugs)) Katie, Keep your head up. Do not think as our infertility as something you have to struggle with to get a baby. but think of it as a stepping stone to get you a baby. There are many treatments out there, and they are

((HUGS)) Katie! Please don't feel bad about pcos, I too have it & it's really not that bad. With treatment (Metformin is the only one I know of) you have the same chance as women who don't have it. They put me on Met back in September, since then I O every month & even managed to get pg a few weeks ago. I lost it but I know it was due to my hormones still just not quite there from my sickness. I'm reg every month & all symptoms I had before are gone. I've even managed to lose some weight on it as well. The other thing I like is Met keeps your blood sugar down which is muuuuuccchh healthier than it constantly flexing. I have a few with diabetes in my family & that has always scared me. Taking this just dropped my chances of getting it way down so thats comforting to me. Please KUP with what goes on! Oh & if you're getting snow in Denver please don't send it to us over in KS :)

Katie, I'm so glad you're feeling a bit better about things after some time to digest the news. I love your steps, especially No. 4. Be good to yourself.

For what it's worth, I have a good friend who has PCOS, and though it took some time and treatment, she's now the mother of a lovely little girl. We'll be cheering you on all the way to your own happy ending!
