Hi everyone! I have been lurking on this board for a few months...finally decided to post. I'm Beth (30). Me and my hubby have been TTC for 6 months now. Haven't tried charting and did try OPKs once. The main problem i am having is irregular cycle lengths. I stopped taking the pill last June. My cycles have varied anywhere from 28-42 days. Currently i am 1 week late (2 neg tests). Just wondering if anyone else had irregular periods for this long after stopping the BCP? It is so frustrating! I was very regular before going on the pill, but that was 8 years ago. Gonna try charting my temp and OPKs this cycle!

Welcome to the boards!! I've always had irregular cycles unless I was on BCP. But I know it can take a few months to get back to normal. To help get my cycles back on track, I decided to go the natural route and do chasteberry. So far it's worked, my cycles have been between 30 and 35 days. I know some have tried Fertilaid, some have great results, some it doesn't do anything for them-so I think its a trial and error thing.
Again, welcome to the boards and hope your stay is short n sweet with a BFP! :)

My husband works at a natural foods/health store so he gets it there. You can probably get it at any kind of store like that. I've seen quite a few that say they take close to 1000mg per day but I've found that just one (440mg per caplet) has worked just fine. Its also supposed to help pms symptoms too. They say it could take up to 3-6 months to see any changes, so if you don't see anything right away, don't get discouraged. Good luck!

Hi Beth, welcome! I, too, have extremely wonky cycles (case in point, I'm currently on CD54 with no O) and was on BCP for a number of years prior to ttc. How were your cycles prior to BCP? The norm is for your cycles to return to how they were pre-BCP within about 6 months. My cycles were wonky pre-BCP, many stretching on for months, so while frustrating it isn't all too surprising for me.

When you say that you're late for AF, how do you know? Given how irregular your cycles have been it may be difficult to determine where you're at/should be without knowing when you O'd.

I hope your journey doesn't take much longer! I look forward to getting to know you better...sending loads of baby dust your way!
Have you given your dr a call, if for nothing else to at least let him/her know you're ttc?

Hi Beth, welcome! It is great you are coming out of lurking and joining in this madness called TTC .lol. I was on bc for over 10 years and when I came off my cycles went back to normal almost instantly, I have only had 2 wonky cycles since then so I can't be of any help. All I would say is if you go the natural route make sure you know how much and when to take certain herbs, some can only be taken up until O because they can cause the uterus to contract and prevent implanting. I Vitex is one of them.

Good luck!

Its so funny, because I started BCP in high school when I became...you know, active. I remember right before I went on BCP, my cycle was REALLY late! At that time, I thought everyone was 28 days and I was convinced that I was pregnant...well, looking back on it, I was probably just in my usual cycle. I am around 46 day cycles...this cycle is off, because I'm approaching CD60 with BFNs....I would highly recommend doing FertilityFriend.com and doing the temps and read up about CM. OPKs did not work for me and just stressed me out WAY too much :) Good Luck!

I was on BCP for 8 years. Before that I was not sexually active, so really didnt "keep track" of my periods. From what i can remember i was pretty regular. The last 3 cycles were 42, 35, and 31 days so i thought that i might be starting to regulate then this cycle was 37 days. It's just frustrating because you think you think you will ovulate around a certain time one cycle and it is a completely different time the next cycle. So, this month I am charting my temp and using OPKs. I talked to my primary care doc and she suggested seeing a GYN...tried calling around and the only available appointments are in late Feb...crazy huh? Just have to wait it out i guess. Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome! The gals at work are probably sick of hearing me complain...its nice to have a place to vent a bit!
