Yes, I would definately recommend starting prenatal vitamins to build up your folate reserves. If you are a coffee/soda drinker you may want to try cutting down on caffeine as well.

I agree with Krista. Welcome to the board! It sounds like you are doing some great things to put you in a better position for TTC (paying off debt, losing weight). Congrats on your weight loss!

Welcome to the board! TTC is an exciting time, and it can also be completely overwhelming. Take advantage of the next couple of months to learn what you can, and be sure to utilize us here for anything you need. A great place to start is reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler...it's essentially a ttc "bible" and has loads of great info. I think you're off on the right track with taking a prenatal (those vitamins, especially the folic acid, are essential for fetal development) and working on your health. I also recommend having a pre-conception visit with your doc just to let him/her know that you're planning on trying and find out if he/she has any suggestions for you. I think it's important having your doctor involved from the beginning.

And a huge congrats to you on your weight loss success so far! Keep at it!
