Hello everyone, My name is Lydia,I'm 26 and from Michigan. Me and my husband have been TTC for 6 months now. I have done all the detailed charting and read "taking charge of your fertility" We have tried every trick out there and I recently gave up the charting. I just couldn't take the stress anymore, so I decided to join for some support because I know there are others out there like me. I just can't bring myself to talk to family because none of them know what I'm going through. They are all abundantly blessed with lots of children! I have an infertility app. with my obgyn at the end of the month. I still have hope that i might get to cancel it since I have a few days before AF is supposed to come. I know it takes some people a long time to get pregnant, but am I overreacting for feeling that something is wrong? Also, what am I to expect at this appointment?

Hi Lydia, welcome to the board! I have been trying for a long time now and would rather come here then try and talk about it to people IRL. I find comfort talking with ladies that are in the same place as me and don't offer up comments like "just relax it will happen" Like you all my friends and family have no problems pop out the babies so understanding what I am going through is impossible for them. Usually doctors tell you to try for a year before they will start testing but if you have a history of problems they may see you sooner. I hope AF stays away and you get to cancel that appt!

Hi Lydia. Welcome to the board. I am new to the board too. My husband decided this month he was ready to start TTC. I hope you get to cancel your obgyn appointment. :)

Thanks Leslie. It is extremely hard to hear those comments, so I am very thankful that there is a place where I can relate to other ladies. May I ask have you been diagnosed with anything particular?

Hi! Welcome to the board! I've been TTC for over a year now (haven't been to a specialist), and I get how frustrating it can be. So does everyone here- that's the beauty of this place. Glad you found it- and hope your stay is short and sweet!!!!

Hi Lydia...welcome! This is definitely the right place to talk about ttc. Like you, I don't have anyone IRL that I can really talk to about this. Only recently have I opened up to my mom more about it but even that is still uncomfortable. Those who never had to try don't have the same feelings or understanding of the process as those of us who have. You'll find tremendous amounts of support here and I know you'll love everyone as much as I do. You seem to have so many things going for you with having charted and reading TCOYF so I think you're a step ahead.

As Lesley pointed out, most docs don't want to see you unless you've been ttc for at least a year so I think you're another step ahead. Your ObGyn will probably recommend blood work to check hormone levels (E2, estradiol, progesterone, LH, FSH, thyroid) and may perhaps order u/s (ultrasounds) to check your ovaries, and an SA (semen analysis) for your DH. I recommend writing down any questions you have prior to going.

Best of luck, and I hope you don't need to keep that appointment!

Thanks Kim for your insight. Now I now what to expect. I just hope it doesn't take months before I get an answer as to what might be wrong. Most of all I don't want to hear "unexplained infertility."

Hi Lydia! I'm Tracie, I'm 31 and have been TTC using IUI for almost a year. We did IUI's at home until last month, and just started seeing an RE five months ago. I had an HSG done to be sure my tubes weren't blocked (they weren't), then they started me on Clomid days 5 through 9 of my cycle - 50mg the first month, then they upped it to 100mg. They have me using OPK's starting on day 12, and go in for ultrasounds if I don't get a + OPK by day 15.

Hi Tracie,
Thanks so much for the information. That helps me a lot!!! Do you feel that Clomid is a good option? I have heard good and bad about it. Some say it dries up your cervical mucus and has "pregnancy symptoms" side effects. I have read about it, but I think it's better to hear it from someone who has used it. One lady said Femara is better. Just want to know your opinion. Keep me updated on your progress!!!!
