New & Nervous!

Hi ladies! I'm brand new here & want to introduce myself as well as get some advice. I'm Kristine, 23 yrs old & will be TTC #1 in the next few months. I have a GYN appt in January to discuss my options, and I'm already pretty nervous.

I have mild PCOS, with my biggest symptom being missed periods. So I'm wondering how that will affect my chances of becoming pregnant. I'm really new to this and don't have a lot of women in my life that have had trouble TTC. So I'd like to go into my appt with questions in hand, however I don't know where to start.

DH & I have been "not trying to get preg, but not preventing it either" for a while now and nothing has happened (never been on BC), so where do I go from here? What should I ask my GYN? And if I were to become preg, how would I know with all

I don't know much about PCOS, but the most helpful tracking for me monthly has been tracking my BBT (basal body temp). This you can do easily and cheaply, I know I've read that ovulation predictor tests don't work well if you have PCOS. I'm sure your doctor will help and maybe there is a medication that can help you have more regular periods so you can track them and have a bigger chance of knowing when to try. I've found everyone here very helpful (I'm new here, myself :))

Lots of luck to you!

Welcome Kristine! I haven't been formally dx with PCOS but I have every symptom, including the dreaded facial hair ugh! My periods were all over the place. Sometimes I would go months without one, be regular for two months then it would go missing again. In April, DH and I decided to do the not trying but not preventing thing too. I had my period in May, and June then it went missing until October! Very frustrating! So at the end of Sept, I started taking chasteberry, 440mg every day along with a multivitamin and a B complex/Folic Acid supplement. 2 weeks after I started, it showed on my BBT chart that I ovulated! And ever since then, my cycles have regulated and I'm O'ing around day 18 and having a 14-15 day luteal phase. I'm trying to do it the natural/holistic way before I start to seek a doctors help. I really do recommend doing the BBT charting. It really helped me get to know my body and cycles better. Good luck and I'm sure I'll see you around! :)

Hi Kristine...welcome! The ladies have already offered great advice but I just wanted to extend a warm welcome to you. I'm so happy you found us and look forward to getting to know you as you begin your ttc journey.

I have PCOS and suffer from anovulation and loooooong cycles. I'm actually still waiting to O here on CD35...very frustrating. LMK if you have any PCOS-specific questions and I'll be happy to help.
