O pain?

Looking for some confirmation:

I usually feel when I O (I'm not temping now, but it always happens on CD 14-15), but yesterday it was the worst O pain I've ever had. It came on immediately on my left side, and I couldn't sit or stand up straight. I was doubled over until it eased up, but then I actually vomited a little bit. Really weird. I don't have painful periods, but this was way worse than cramps. Woke up fine this morning.

Anyway - those of you who feel O, has it ever been intense?

I'm glad you're doing better today Mary!

I've had O pains so intense that I mistook it for appendicitis once...walking was next to impossible. Last cycle was also incapacitating when I O'd (not as bad as that one time above), had to sit around with a heat pack. I've never been to the point of vomiting though, so I can't help you there :(

This cycle is actually looking to be another stabbing O, since I've been getting on-and-off sharp pains for the past few days. It's already delayed since last cycle and I'm not sure if it's the EPO or other factors (I haven't been particularly stressed...if anything I'm just happy around my birthday lol).

I also have O pain every month but not as bad as you have described. I wonder if you maybe had a cyst that burst? I think that they are fairly common. I hope that was the end of it and you don't have any more pain like that!

Hi Mary,

I'm so sorry you had such awful pain. I'm glad you're feeling better.

I'm not saying that you have what I have because only a doctor could tell you what's going on. I just want to share that a similar thing happens to me.

I keep having similar horrible pains at CD 14-15 also. In Feb. it was REALLY bad. I balled up in the chair with a heating pad on my stomach, though nothing made the pain go away. When I stood up to walk I had to call my DH b/c I thought I was going to pass out. The next day, it hurt less but hurt when I walked like there was a balloon bouncing with every step. I called my OB and insisted on an exam b/c this one was worse than the others. She did a vaginal ultrasound and she found that I had had a bleeding cyst (this was 5 days after the pain). She said that they treat painful cysts with bc or get pg. My pain alternates sides every month and my right side is worse than the left side.

I don't want to scare you, but I want to be honest and you to be aware if this is what you might have...she did mention that the cyst can possibly get hit during BD'ing and this could possibly twist the ovarian tube, which could cut off the blood supply to it. We are very careful to take things slow and not too deep during BD'ing around this time. You will feel it if you hit it. That's how I found my first known cyst before they became bleeding cysts. We hit it and I thought we broke something inside me.

I'm not saying this is what you have because only a doctor could tell you what's going on. You might want to go to the doctor and ask for an ultrasound to see what is going on. It helps to keep track of what days the pain happen and what they are on a 1-10 pain scale. I hope you feel better soon and that you don't have bleeding cysts. I'm still trying to find answers about them, and my OB wants to send me to a specialist. I'll post what I find out.

Thanks, everyone! I'm due for a pap smear this month. Funny, I've never put off a pap smear b/c I always needed a refill of bcp, but now that I don't need those I really don't want to do it! Anyway, I'll call today to make an appt and will bring it up then since it's the first time it's ever happened.

Thanks again!
