OPK -- HELP!!! :)

Hi all!

This is my first cycle TTC and AF is winding down right now. I have no idea when I ovulate, so I am thinking of using an OPK. BUT, I have no idea how they work, when I should use them, or what brand I should use! I've heard some horror stories about OPKs that are difficult to read and I do NOT want to have to worry about that!

ANY and all advice is very much appreciated!!!

Fear not! OPKs are fairly easy to use, although interpretation can be a bit confusing...but don't let that hold you back!

OPKs work by detecting the LH (luteinizing hormone) surge in your body right before you O. They work very similarly to HPTs: there are ones you pee directly on and ones you pee in a cup and dip them into; there are digital ones with smiley faces when your LH surges and others where you have to compare the test line to the control line.

The absolute best advice I can give is to go digital! I never could feel confident that I was getting a true positive until I got the digitals and they are so worth the extra expense. You either get a blank circle for a negative or a friendly smiley face for positive.

Good luck!
