Pink, Blue, or Green?!

Hey ladies- I feel like the board has been through a rough patch with some bad news and not too many BFPs lately, so I thought I would try to get a conversation going to build up morale. Here are a few questions:

1. Do you have a secret gender preference? What is it?

2. When you get pg, will you find out what you are having? Why or why not?

My answers...

1. I think I probably used to slightly prefer having a girl, but I believe my partner and I will only have one child, and now that it is proving difficult to get that one, I honestly don't care either way. I think it would be fun to have a boy or a girl, and at this point, I would be so excited for either. I'm not sure, but I think my partner might have a bit of a preference to having a girl, but he won't admit it!

2. I don't plan on finding out what I will have. I am a serious planner, and a total Type A control freak, but for this one thing, I just don't want to know. I'm sure I'll be tempted, but to me the most exciting thing besides finding out I am pregnant will be hearing a doctor shout out "it's a ____" right after delivery. I have some gender neutral ideas for the nursery so I'm not too worried about that, though I know people will be irritated if they have to buy yellow and green gifts. Oh well- too bad for them!

1. Definitely would prefer a boy, especially for our first. Of course, I will love our child no matter what gender.

2. I don't think I will want to find out. This is one of the only true surprises in life, and I want to take full advantage.

What fun questions...great idea, Andrea!

1. Do you have a secret gender preference? What is it?

As I'm sure it goes without saying, having a healthy baby is my top priority and my child's sex really doesn't matte. I always thought that I wanted a boy first because when I was younger I wanted an older brother. Now that I'm here actively trying, I secretly want a girl. I have her name picked out (using my grandmother's) and I will be devastated if anyone else decides to use it. I have a huge family (mom had 8 brothers and sisters) so there are countless cousins making babies...I just don't know if anyone feels as tied to my grandmother as I do.

2. When you get pg, will you find out what you are having? Why or why not?

Yes, I will find out. Again, this is something that has changed since I have gotten into ttc. I guess it goes back to question 1...I need to secure the name. lol I am definitely a planner, not quite Type A but close, and I like having an idea of what I'm going into. I'm also somewhat creative and while I can definitely come up with something gender-neutral, I kind of want to go either way. I don't necessarily believe in gender assigned things or colors but it would definitely be a good starting point.

Yay fun questions!

1. Do you have a secret gender preference? What is it?

Ok well I really want a girl. But I think that is mostly because all of my friends while I lived in HI had girls, so over the last 2 years ive been around baby girls. So I spent countless hours in the girl sections of target and what not. But DH really really wants a boy, because my SIL has had 3 girls, so he wants to be the first to have a boy. haha. Which I do agree would be fun :)

2. When you get pg, will you find out what you are having? Why or why not?

For our first one, yes we want to find out. For our second, we want that one to be a surprise. But who knows if it takes us awhile to get pg, then we might not find out. haha. So i guess it all depends on how long it takes us :)

Oooo, fun questions...

1. I go back and forth on this one. I think everyone loves having a "Mini-Me" -- I love seeing how my nieces try to act just like my sisters, and my nephews act like their daddies. I'm one of 4 girls, and the first kids in my family were three nieces....so I always just assumed it would be a girl for me -- that was all I knew! Then my nephews came along, and they are HEART STEALERS. I love them to death. They aren't as cuddly or communicative as the girls, but they are

Kim, I have a girl name picked out that uses my grandmother's name for the middle name, and I've been on pins and needles about my cousin and his girlfriend, who already have 4 children between them (both are also recovering drug addicts, so apparently addiction did not ruin their reproductive capabilities since they had 4 with different partners while using drugs and got pg "accidentally" after getting off the drugs, but that's another story and I am obviously bitter!) and are expecting a girl. Luckily they didn't choose "my" name, but I am pretty sure if they had, I would have stilled used and said a big eff you to them! I've already watched 2 boy names that I liked be used by another cousin (who is my age and also has 4 kids), and I couldn't bare to lose another name because I don't have super reproductive powers like they do!

I will also start by saying that I just want a healthy take home baby. But...I secretly want a girl =) I am a total girly girl and would love nothing more than to have a tiny girly girl too. You girls are the only people I've ever told this to!
But if we have a boy I would be 100% ok with that too because my hubby is a total guys guy. He loves all things sports, and I think having a little boy would make him so happy.
And we are definitely finding out! Even though I think it is a fun idea to wait, personally I couldn't do it. I'm too impatient and would need to decorate accordingly!

What fun questions!

Love these questions!

1.) I go back and forth. I will be so excited with either at this point haha. My husbands family is all boys so I'm always worried I will never be blessed with girls so I would be so excited if I actually got one. I love girly things and think about all the shopping, manicures, etc we could do together as she grows up. Boys are amazing too though. I love my little nephew. My husband is into football and has season tickets so I always think about how cute it would be for him to be able to take his son to his first game etc. just like his dad did with him. Ahh I dont know, both!! : )

2.) I want to find out. I would like to do a whole sports theme and get cute little boy outfits if it's a boy and do pinks and butterflies for a girls room and get cute little girly outfits. I dont plan on sharing the name though until the baby is born. If it's a boy it will be named after my FIL who is amazing man and if it's a girl it will have my sisters name for her middle name.

1. Do you have a secret gender preference? What is it?
Yes, Team Pink Team Pink Team Pink! I have no desire to have a boy, I want all girls, I want all princesses in pink with clothes and makeup and boy bands... I've even told DH that if he doesn't give me a girl, his little boy will be wearing pink! Of course, I will accept whatever I get, but I've got tons of girl names picked out and not a single boy. I will love him all the same, but he will know how to cook and clean! And I think it's way cuter for a girl to be a daddy's girl than for a boy to be a momma's boy.

2. When you get pg, will you find out what you are having? Why or why not?
I will find out ASAP. I want to paint the nursery with the right colors, be prepared with gender appropriate clothing, pick out a name ahead of time. As soon as I can identify who this little person will be, the better the bond will be.

1. Do you have a secret gender preference? What is it?
We wou a healthy baby :) lol. Secretly, I want a boy first because DHs side of the family only has girls, we would like to give his parents the first grandson. BUT on my side of the family we have 10 boys and 2 girls so we are in need of a girl for my side. And Dh secretly wants a girl first he melts for girls, and I want to give him a girl first so she can be daddies little princess!! But honestly we just want a healthy baby.

2. When you get pg, will you find out what you are having? Why or why not?
No we are not finding out, it's so exciting not to know!!! We already have a boy and girl name picked out so which ever is first, we don't mind :) I can handle surprised the only person who can't stand them is my mom, but our plans are we are going to have the Dr write it down and we will give it to my mom. She likes to make blankets and burp cloths, so she will probably be the only one that knows but we will ask her to keep it a secret because we plan on telling everyone when the baby arrives, who it is and not just "it's a girl/or boy" kWIM :) yeah so surprise!
