1. Recovery depends a lot on which type of procedure you have done and how you and your body handle the procedure. I had the open procedure and was up moving around within a week (with some pain), within 2 weeks my pain was mostly gone, and within about 3 weeks I was back to normal. There are two other ways of doing the procedure, laprascopic and robotic. I believe both of those have faster recovery times compared to the open procedure.

2. There wasn't an emotional toll for us because we weren't feeling rushed to get pregnant (I was 29 and my DH was 34 when we were TTC). We were lucky to get pregnant on the first try though, so that probably made a big difference in how we felt about things.

3. Our families were thrilled. If they wouldn't have been, I just would have kept all of my TTC stuff to myself. Don't let others bring you down. You know what you want, so do what's best for your family. Your mom will most likely change her tune when you are having/have another little one.

4. Be patient. Each facility has their own way of doing things, so just go with the flow of what they say. Take it easy after the surgery and give your body time to heal. Once you begin TTC, try not to stress out about it too much. I've read a lot of women that talk about TTC say that when they finally stopped stressing and said "whatever happens happens", they finally got their BFP. So try to relax and just enjoy the time you have together before you add another addition to your family. :)

Hi. I had my tubes tied when i was 21. They were tied for 10 years when i met and married my (now ex) husband. I was in a lot of pain for a couple of weeks from where they cut stomach muscles. I got pregnant 3 weeks after surgery. Turns out, not a good idea. It was ectopic due to the swelling.
