Intro for me, again...

About a year ago, dh & I started considering (very seriously, instead of just 'an option') of a vr. I think I posted a couple times then. But the deal was that I would need to lose weight since I was having knee/foot pain, and a pg would make it all that worse. Well, the weight loss didn't happen (LOL< does it ever?), but my issues are gone. Amazingly enough, not using artificial sweeteners pretty much fixed me up within a week or so.

We have decided, for sure, to do the VR this summer.....kind of combined with a road trip/family vacation with our two daughters, who will be 10yo & 7yo at the time. Good times! So I will be setting up a yearly visit (ack!) for me just to make sure everything is good to go before making dh's appt. We have mostly decided on Dr Roeder in Tx. We are aiming for July, that is when I normal close the daycare for vacation anyway. That should make everything wildly expensive while we are there during peak tourist season. Yeah schlitterbahn! We love waterparkds. I would love for it to be sooner, but I have some teacher's kids, and I like to schedule around them. And a new baby starting in June, and want to get them settled, too. Not to mention it will take a few more months to save up for the trip.

Some of the reasons for getting it done now, is that dh's V is 6.5 years old. We kinda want to get the VR done asap. Not to mention I will be *gasp* 35yo in the fall. I would love to have a couple (or more) kids. Dh wants 2 more....I am a total tons of kids wannabe. Seriously. You would think that be doing home daycare for 4-8 kids each day that I would be in the loony bin, but alas, I WANT MORE OF MY OWN.

We have considered adoptions, and we are also foster parents & have been for a few years. It just isn't happening, the adoption fees are WAY out of our league at the moment & the foster care thing isn't working out. We would love to foster (regardless if the child went back home or not), but the agency will not place with us for several reasons. 1. we are too far away (an hour) & not willing/cant transport kids to visits 3x/wk. 2. They would provide transportation, but dont want to pay for something they can usually get for free from foster parents. Same with therapies & court visits & supervising parent visits.

We homeschool our girls, they seem to like it. I do. Dh does. My oldest is in 4H & participates in a running club. LOVES both. My younger dd is going to do the running club this summer.

Other things of note:

We have been working towards financial peace by following Dave Ramsey's babysteps. So far things are going great. Six months in & we have paid of 20% of our non-mortgage debt load. But the planning where our money goes is satisfying in and of itself. So we already have peace, just not debt free...yet!

We live in N. IL< and so TIRED of winter I am ready to scream...spring, spring SPRING where are you?!

I am sure this is all way TMI, but I feel chatty today.

Hi Sola,
Nice to meet you. What part of Illinois exactly? I used to live in Crystal Lake and Algonquin area, about 1/2 hour from Wisconsin border.

My husband and I were also considering adoption but the prices for adoption, even domestic, are out of this world. It's much easier to have my own by my husband getting the VR done. I applaud your efforts in fostering though. That might be something we will want to do when our kids are out of the house.

Debt plans are great! I've consolidated all my bills and now pay a small fraction of what we used to pay. We've vowed to never be in that situation again. Now we have only one credit card and are just fine.

I take it from your post that you will be going to Texas and seeing Dr. Roeder for your reversal (water park mention)?

Woohoo! It is naptime. A have a good bunch of daycare kids, but when they get tired they are terrors. Luckily we are on a good schedule & they rack out for a good 2-3 hours. They are the play hard/sleep hard type (all boys!).

Yeah, it is looking like we will use Dr R. We are not as far north in IL as you guys, but we are a good 25 miles west of Aurora/Naperville. Out in a small town in corn country. Good livin', but a bit far to claim Chicago. LOL.

I made my stinky appt for the yummy pap/yearly. Okay, not quite yearly since my last one was in 2005. Scheduling conflicts prior to now....thats my excuse & I am sticking to it.

Good Luck to you too!
