Great slideshow!! It had me smiling the whole time!
The one thing I can think of adding is:
You'll be so scared of having sex again!!
To me it was (honestly) like being a virgin again. Maybe it is because I had an episiotomy, maybe not, but it hurt a lot, and kept hurting for at least two months. Thankfully my DH is a patient man, and took things reeeeaaally slowly at first, so it wasn't too bad. The good news is that it doesn't last forever. No matter how it hurt in the beginning, soon enough it stopped , and I think our sex life is awesome again! (Oh, and lube is your best friend!)
Newborns are easy to transport! Don't sit at home just because you have a new baby. Find a carrier that you love and go out. Take walks. Visit a zoo or museum. I also found that going out to lunch with friends or my mom was far easier with a brand new baby than an older infant or toddler. Take advantage of this time! The days when we just sat at home were by far the hardest. This seems to be especially true for women who are used to the dynamics of working outside of the home. Solitude isn't good!
Having a December baby stunk because it was hard to get out of the house with him because of the cold weather. I think those who had babies in the better weather had an easier time getting out. Once the weather got better he was already a few months old and we did get out but I was going crazy the first few weeks and even though I went back to work 8 wks after I had my son, I worked at home and we had a sitter come to the house so I still didn't get out.
Oh, this was great! The pet one especially resonated with me. My poor cats went from being spoiled and the center of attention to...well...just the cats! LOL! I definitely cry at commercials too. There is this Kraft Singles one on these days that shows pictures of a mom and her son sharing grilled cheese sandwiches at different stages of his life. I tear up every time!
Here are a few pieces of advice that have saved me: - shower in the evening. After all day with the baby, I felt covered in various goo. Having a shower in the evening is a nice way to refresh after a long day, AND you don't have to rush through it because DH will watch the baby!
- getting together with other moms keeps me sane (as long as they're the honest ones, not the competitive/perfect ones).
- "it is what it is". The moment I just gave myself over to the whole motherhood thing, and stopped worrying about every little thing, it was infinitely more enjoyable!
