Hi girls,
I've only just noticed it's been a week already and I still haven't updated on here. Thing is, I still haven't written out my birth story, but I'll give you the jist of it for now!

Albert Miles Laurence was born on 1 June 11 at 2.14am, weighing 10lbs 0.5oz and 21.5in long.
He was born via emergency cesarean section after a natural (non induced) labour, due to cord prolapse.

We are both doing well (him more than me, I hate the recovery from a c-section) and thankfully the breastfeeding is going smoothly without any problems this time!
Teddy adores Bo and is the best big brother ever; no signs of jealousy!

Just one word about cord prolapse as I'd never heard of it before it happened to me. This is when the umbilical cord slips out of the cervix before the head, and with every contraction the head squeezes the cord against the bony pelvis, thus cutting off oxygen and blood supply to the baby. It is very rare ( 0.25% chance) and has a fairly high mortality rate (11-17%), and because of it's nature can also lead to disabilities / brain damage. There are certain factors that can put you more at risk, though none of them applied to us (multiples, breech presentation, high fluid levels, premature labour, low birth weight).
I'm so glad that Bo came out unharmed - in fact, his Apgars were 10,10,10 so no worries there!

edited to add a few photos:

Proud big brother!

Turns out my intuition about his hair was sort of right. He's got half as much as Teddy had, and it's a funny strawberry blonde - not quite ginger!

Bo is just the sweetest little thing!!! Well I guess little is pushing it LOL- Way to go momma!

I'm glad they caught the cord prolapse in time! Here in Germany they are required to tell everyone about it and if your water breaks you are supposed to stay on hands and knees and call an ambulance if you haven't been cleared by your midwife or doctor for having a baby in a position with no chance of prolapse.

Teddy and Bo look adorable together!

Congratulations Anna! I think Bo looks exactly like Teddy!! I can't wait to read your stories about the two of them growing up together. So glad to hear Bo arrived safe and sound.

Congratulations, Anna!! He is so cute. Ten pounds...wow! I'm so glad that both of your are safe, and I'm glad that Teddy is enjoying his role as big brother. I have heard of cord prolapse, and it is quite scary.

Congratulations Anna!!! What a beautiful (BIG) baby boy!!! He has Teddy's cheeks, makes me want to kiss him all over!

I'm sorry you couldn't have the VBAC you hoped for, but honestly, a prolapsed cord is the kind of thing that c-sections were invented for! I'm so glad everything turned out ok!!

Congrats on your new little boy! I feel silly for asking but weren't you going to name him Merry? Did I miss the name change story?

Congratulations, Anna! He is totally adorable! I'm sorry about the issues with the cord and having to get a C-section, but it sounds like it was the best thing to do given the circumstances.

Scary incident but glad you both are good and hope you have a good recovery. My dr and I talked about the cord prolapse today because of how Z had been laying. Glad it didn't cause him any harm. He is so cute, and could still turn Ginger! :-)
