Christine Hispanic and Polish seems like aninteresting combination. i am actually polish on both mom and dads sides but have never been there and dont know one word other than merry christmas. spanish i know a little from living in texas for 3 yrs but i forgot most of it. I do miss the food down there. We have some here but the food nowhere as good as in s. Texas.

Mari,

The neighborhood my school is in is a mix of Hispanic and Polish actually, with a little Irish sprinkled in. :-)

Jess, I don't know if you are interested but with Simon we mostly try and use cloth wipes. We just use water with a little baby wash and baby oil and they work great. I really like them for poopy diapers.

Thanks Grace! We will be attending the Remembering the Brave Ceremony and Run for Remembrance on Sunday. We'll be there sometime Thursday and leaving Monday.

Hi everyone else.. tired so not doing personals (sorry!)

AFM: Zaydren had his 2 month appt today. He's 14lbs 15oz (up 6lbs since birth) and 23 3/4 in (up two in since birth). Developmentally he's ahead and dr is real pleased. She gave me a book to read since I am not doing vaccinations (scare tactic anyone? lol) but I won't read it. She just wanted to do it so she can say she did her part. Thats about all the news I can remember lol

Jess - Are you using the same wipes and dipes at home and DC? That's the only thing I can think of.

Ash - Teddy sounds like such a charter too cute. I love watching his videos.

Mari - I love the water story... so funny. My maternity leave was 12 weeks, but I only got 60% pay for 6 weeks (6 weeks no pay). Maternity leave in the US is total BS. But at least we finally got the surgeon general on the side of BFing moms.

Erica - your little Charlotte is TOTALLY adorable. I agree now that's it's Sept. we should have a picture thread. Think I'll go start one.

AFM - last night Teddy woke up in a huge pile of vomit. It was terrible, poor guy. He hadn't eaten anything new, so we're not sure what caused it. He acted fine all day today. Ray's first day of 2nd grade went well, he's so exctied for this year.

Ash- David has been doing the exact same thing with the pillows for months. He will also do it on our bed, his bed, ect. He started doing it when he went for swim lessons and they were showing him how to "dive" into the pool so now he thinks it's fun to do that.

Mari - I had to laugh and cry just like Cassie about your comment on the paid Maternity leave. My company gives you 6 weeks off (1 week of that is your own PTO) at 60% pay, if you supplement it with a certain amount from your paycheck each week you can get up to 80% pay and have to use your PTO (Paid Time Off) to supplement the rest. Like Cassie said you get the 12 weeks unpaid to make sure you don't lose your job, but it all depends on what your company does. I know that a lot of people take the 12 weeks or more off without pay. or use up all their vacation. It's pretty crappy I have to say.

Waving hi to everyone else! Sorry I have been reading, just no time to post. Hope you all have a great weekend!

Gabby is totally walking like crazy!! She now walks on her own and when in the middle of the room. She is climbing the stairs like crazy. I ahve to say it's sort of nice to not have to carry her everywhere, but it's bittersweet at the same time. My baby girl is growing up!!

BTDT - Gabby has switched over to Whole milk, and is also working on 4 teeth on the top right now. Her diaper area is always red, it seems to get better on the weekends, and I don't know if that's because of not giving her whole milk on the weekends (We are still mixing it wit my BM, but it's mostly whole milk) or the fact that we only use wipes when her diaper is dirty, not when it's wet. I keep telling them at daycare to ONLY use wipes when it's dirty, but I doubt they are actually doing that. I don't know if it's the teeth, the milk, the wipes or what?? Thoughts? I was going to give her some whole milk this weekend and see if her butt stays red. so hard to know.

We are still waiting for our plans for our remodel to get approved by the city but we are meeting with the interior designer to pick out the stone, siding, roof and windows....crazy all the stuff we have to pick out. SO hopefully in a week or so we can start ripping off the siding and the stone.

I had a job interview yesterday!! I am super excited about it. I wasn't looking, but a boss I had a few years ago (that tried to take me with her when she left our department, but she didn't want me to change because the position was a bit votile at the time) wants me to come work for her and my current boss recommended me for it - I am feeling a bit weird about that, but oh well....The interview with her boss went super! I can't believe how great it went. I ahven't felt that confident about an interview in my entire life. it was over the phone so maybe that's why. They are trying to figure some things out I guess to see what they can offer me, so hopefully I get the offer before this weekend, otherwise it will be a LONG weekend.
