Christine, we use Similac for Simon and have to get the sensative stuff. I would take those checks off your hands :)
Sure thing! Just PM me your address.
I only have one check right now but I'll go ahead and send it and any future ones to you!
Hi all, I'm back! It was weird to be away from the board for so long! :P
Christine - I really hope you get the job and the PT schedule you're looking for. I know how much stress and anxiety this whole job issue has caused you... I hope it all works out for you and you're able to stay home at least PT with Selin. I'm so sorry you're having so many issues with rashes/colds/etc! You poor mama!! And YAY for Selin taking milk from a cup! I've heard that many bottle-hating babes like that. Eliza was never a fan of the cup (though recently she has started liking it more). I'm so glad you've found a possible solution.
Ruby - I just can't get over the fact that Maxim is 2 months already! Hope you had a fantastic baby-free time last weekend!
Suzie - oh no! Another car-hater? I have one of those... since the day she was born Eliza HATED the car/car seat. Still does. I hope your road trip went well! Glad you're checking in more often.
Cara - Wow, Tenley is such a great weight-gainer! WTG! Sounds like you guys had a great vacation.
Cassie - I'm sorry Simon has an infection, that is no fun for mama or baby :( Thinking good thoughts for him, hoping he's feeling better by now.
Sandy - you might want to consider using a back-up form of BCP if you're no longer BFing and only using the mini pill... it's only proven effective when used in combination with BFing. Just wanted to make sure you knew that -- in case don't want an oops baby right now!! ;)
Mari - OMG, Fede is ADORABLE in that snowsuit (well, he's always adorable, haha). I have mild hypothyroid issues as well, and while I hope you don't have it, it's no big deal; it's an easy condition to treat with meds and they will make you feel SO much better. Oh, and I always forget you're in the southern hemisphere... it's so weird for this Northerner to see SNOW right now! :)
AFM - Eliza and I got home today from our vacation with my whole fam-damily. Haha. We had a great time, but we missed Daddy. He had to leave on Wednesday to go back to work. We had fun though, we did a lot of hiking (God Bless the Ergo), napping (both mama and baby!), reading, wading in the lake and rivers, and a LOT of eating. OMG, my cousins are such foodies (okay, so I am a little bit of a foodie, too...) so we ate really well - and I ate way too much. I'm afraid to step on the scale! Eliza had fun playing with her cousins (who she met for the first time this week), it was just so cute to see them all together. I wish we lived closer to them. The drive wasn't so bad, mostly thanks to my mom who rode in the back seat with Eliza and entertained her when she got fussy. She actually took TWO naps in the car today (we were in the car for 6 hours, though we stopped a few times)! Ah, small victories :)
Eliza is working really hard on crawling... she is SO CLOSE, but she gets so frustrated that she doesn't like to practice. She can get up on all fours, rocks back and forth, and can even move one leg and one arm in a crawling-type motion, but she just hasn't gotten it yet. She is also really good at getting back to sitting from all-fours, which I suppose is a good skill to have! Anyway, that's my little update on my little sweetie. Oh, and she started waving, too, which is BEYOND ADORABLE! She waves when we say "can you wave bye-bye?" - it's just amazing to us that she actually understands us. It's like it's another form of "communication" with my little 8-month old. So cute!
Hope everyone had a great weekend!
Hey all, just wanted to update on our baby-free night!
On Saturday, we had my friend's Dirty 30 birthday party at another friend's cottage. Pig roast, potluck, lots of booze, sunshine, good friends and laughs. Maxim was with us all day and did so well...he napped most of the day in his stroller. We arranged for my in-laws to pick up Maxim at 7pm after his feed at that time. They arrived at 7pm just in time and Maxim was crying! I felt so badly for him, even though he was just fussy not really mad at anything. Anyway, I put him in the car seat, kissed him goodbye and away he went with his grandparents. It was a little emotional since he was crying in his car seat (but I didnt cry!!) but apparently as soon as they started backing out, he fell asleep. They were at their cottage which is only 15 minutes down the road so it was nice to know he was close but in very capable hands.
DH and I partied all night. The pig was just getting done when Maxim left so we had a nice dinner. I got into the wine and after 2 full beer cups of red wine, I was quite happy. Played some beer pong and sat around the fire until 2am. My mind only went to Maxim when I knew his fussy hour was starting and his bedtime, hoping he would do ok and not be too hard on them. I had to pump twice to relieve my aching boobs (at 12am and then again at 8am), got up at 10am and got back to my in-laws cottage by `1:00am just in time to nurse Maxim.
He did so well. His routine hadnt changed at all, he went to bed at 11:00 like normal, and woke up at 5:30 for them. He was good all morning, playing with his uncles. We got there at 11:00am and he started to fuss so I changed him and he nursed. My in-laws really enjoyed their night with him too.
It was so nice to have a baby free night and I'm grateful for my in-laws in taking him and I was so happy to have my baby back on Sunday too. I appreciate him so much more when I get a break. We had a really fun weekend!
I am still breastfeeding. I'm not doing it a lot since I can't get anything out in the pump but since I stopped last week I had a ton of milk left and I still have a bunch in there. So when my son isn't going to daycare since I can't pump more than 1 oz per session I am still feeding him. I talked to the LC and told her the situation and plus I just don't feel ready to stop yet. I thought I was and I got all sad this past weekend that I wasn't anymore. So, I am still going to try even if it is part time. I did pump today and got about 2oz this morning. I may try and pump again later and see if I can get anything else.
You are so lucky to have your in laws to watch your son. My in laws live in Florida and my parents in Ohio and we live in Indiana so we have to pay a sitter which is why we don't go out much.
Thanks for the wonderful siggie Heather

I'm answering this by memory, so sorry for all those I forget!!Christine- i'm glad that Seline liked the cup and the whole bottle dilemma is over!Cara- Yay for T gaining weight!!Ella- LOL at the "food fest"!! I'm like that when I'm on a vacation and surrounded by good company! It's so great that you had such a nice time! And I know what you mean, I feel so "upside down" every time there is a seasonal thread or something!Sandy- Good for you still BF even if it is less than before! I think you are right following your heart on this. All the other girls "HI THERE"!!
AFM- I still can't figure out what's wrong with Fede's sleep. I thought it could be teething, but he doesn't show any of the other teething signs, so I'm not sure. It seems like he wakes up uncomfortable and/or hungry, because most of the times, if I move him and place him in another position or nurse him, he will go back to sleep quickly. BUT what dosn't make any sense is that he can change positions by himself now, and he isn't actually hungry either, it's more like he nurses for comfort.... I'll bring this up in the next Dr. appt. and see if he has any ideas.
Christine - Yay on Selin taking milk from a sippy cup. I introduced a sippy cup to Logan but he only wants to chew on the tip instead of suck. I may need to try a different one. Which one are you using? I hope you hear good news on the job prospect. Can you believe our babies are 5mths old this week?!?!
Ruby - Sounds like you had a really fun time on Sat. Glad Maxim was good for your ILs. DH and I are thinking about taking an over night trip and leaving Logan with my ILs. I am pretty nervous about it, especially since he isn't STTN. I think it could be rough on both him and them.
Suzie - Hi! Great to hear from you! Hope your trip went well.
Cassie - Hope Simon's infection is getting better.
Cara - Yay on the weight gain!!
Sandy - Way to go on 7 mths of BFing!! I think part time is just fine. I am actually working on doing part time BFing right now to help transition us once I go back to school in 2wks. I decided that I do not have any desire to pump this semester. It was such a pain last semester. So Logan is getting mostly formula right now during the day and then I BF at night, in the morning and when putting him down for naps.
Mari - Snow!! Fede looks adorable in his snowsuit! I hope you are able to figure out whether you are having trouble with your thyroid.
Ella - Sounds like a great trip! It's so exciting the Eliza is almost crawling too!! I was wondering if she can go from lying down to sitting up? This seems like it would be a difficult thing to do for babies and I was wondering how soon babies can do this.
AFLogan - He turns 5months tomorrow!! I don't know how this has happened, went by so quickly. In the last couple of weeks he has really changed so much. He is sitting up by himself now. He is still pretty wobbly so I definitely have to be right there but I think pretty soon he will be a pro. We also got him a little chair that attaches to our table so he now sits at the table with us when we eat. It is so adorable and he loves it. DH really was wanting to wait to give him food until 6 mths but I don't think we will make it till then. I am ready to start now :)
I am still BFing but I am working on weaning during the day. I have decided that I do not want to pump while I am at school. It was such a pain last semester and I just don't want to do it. I have read a lot of success stories of moms who just BF in the evenings and in the morning and it works great for them. So Logan is getting mostly formula during the day. I still nurse him to take a nap, but he doesn't really eat much during that and then I nurse him in the evening, at night when he wakes and his first morning feed. It is going really well for us. I am still happy that I am still BFing but it is going to be a lot less stressful for me once I am back in class. I am lucky that Logan doesn't care where his milk comes from otherwise this wouldn't have been such an easy decision.
Here are a few pictures I've taken with my phone lately. My good pictures are always on the computer when I post. I really need to get a new siggie :/
