Name/SO's Name: Kate and Day

Children's names and ages: Raymond (8.5 years today) and Teddy (17 months)

Any new milestones or fun stories: Ray is busy being 8, honestly 8 (and from what I have been told 9, and 10) make the 2s and 3s look like a summer vacation.  All of a sudden the attitude has started.  He's on vacation w/ my mom this week and at scout camp next week... and it's SO QUIET in the house without him.

Teddy is really starting to find his words, he seems to have a new one every day or so.

What are you looking forward to this month:  Both Ray coming home from his trips AND Ray going back to school.  I know sounds conflicting, but trust me when they get older you'll understand.

Just for fun, complete this phrase - "Before I had kids, I thought _______" I would be the perfect parent.

Erica (from the last thread) - I don't know if Ray's looking forward to going back to school but I sure am.  How are the homeschool preperations coming along?

Liz - Peter cracks me up... and they are such "boy" comments.  Ray's said more waky phrases (espeically involving his boy parts) than I can remember.

Ruth - That is crazy about keeping the kids in cribs all day.  That almost seems like it would be against the law or something.  I hope you guys find the perfect fit, because having the right daycare can really make or break the home/work balancing act.

Ruth - that is really scary about keeping the kids in cribs all day with the TV on! Glad you guys are on the same page regarding that place. Good luck finding something that fits (sounds like the first place is great).

Liz - LOL!! I love that you have to roar at the tigers!!! Peter is so funny!

Kate - I just ran a summer camp with 8-11 year olds, and I can see what you mean about 8 being worse than 2-3. I guess all stages have their good and bad parts.

Christine- could you add my ticker to the front page when you get the chance?  It is in my signature.  Thanks!

Name/SO's Name: Katja & Andy

Children's names and ages: Eric, 1 month

Any new milestones or fun stories: Eric is getting so strong already!  He can roll from stomach to back in both directions and spends lots of time picking up his head and upper body.  He is on a pretty regular schedule now and I am having so much fun with him!

What are you looking forward to this month: My sister-in-law's wedding this weekend.  It is up in Newport , RI so we will also be touring some of the mansions up there as well (I've never been there and I'm very excited!  I love looking at old homes and love New England in general).  Sort of our version of a vacation for this year, even though it is just three days.  Also my anniversary is on August 14th and DH's birthday is on the 28th.  And DH is taking off a week this month for a stay-cation.  I'll be so glad to have him around so much!

Just for fun, complete this phrase - "Before I had kids, I thought _______"

Hmmm... I don't really have a way to finish this yet.  I'm sure I will as Eric gets older!

Name/SO's Name: Cassie and Matt

Children's names and ages: Simon Donavin 2.5years

Any new milestones or fun stories: Simon has started telling daddy, teddy and I that we are his, "best friend!" Atleast once a day I hear, "daddy you are my best friend." It appears that we have a potty trained little boy! He has been sleeping through the nigh and waking up dry as well as at nap time. He even over the weekend told one of us every time he had to go potty. I'm so excited to be diaper free! He also got his big boy bed, a bunk bed, a few weekends ago. He is loving it, other then the getting up three or four times with any excuse in the book right after we put him to bed. He has also started wanting me to carry him like a baby. I don't know if that was from the baby talk we were doing when we were expecting or what. Its kinda cute though.

What are you looking forward to this month: At this point nothing. Unless the weather decides cools down. DH's birthday is this month... so I guess I have to figure out what to do about that.

Just for fun, complete this phrase - "Before I had kids, I thought _______"  Nap time was for sleeping.. when naptime is for napping or going crazy and getting as much done as possible.

Mandy- How fun that she is starting preschool- I'm sure she will love it!

Amy- wow, I can't believe the twins are already at the age where they are having first words!  I hope Elaine pulls out Mama first for you!

Sandy- It sounds like David is making great progress with the night training.  Have fun at the state fair.  We've said we are going to go to our state fair for probably the past 6 years, but for some reason we always end up missing it.  They are so much fun, though, that I will have to try to get there once Eric is old enough to appreciate it.  I'm sure David will have a blast.

Alyssa- Haha, I love that story about Even throwing the decorative balls!  Sounds like a boy through and through!  Have fun at the conference, that sounds really neat.

Liz- Happy early birthday!  I hope your pregnancy is still going well and that you aren't having as much pain (or that you figured out what was causing it).

Ruth- I loved the pictures you posted of Anu- so cute!  So sorry you aren't looking forward to work-- I hope you are able to enjoy your remaining time at home!  That second daycare sounds awful, but I'm so glad you also found one that is so good.

Kate- I think most parents echo your sentiment about having a child come home and go back to school... I've been hearing parents everywhere in town lately talking to one another about how they are glad the school year is rapidly approaching!  Yay for Teddy's expanding vocabulary!

Cassie- That is so sweet that Benjamin was cuddling the doll!

Cassie- I love that Simon is telling your DH that he is his best friend.  That is just so heartwarming.  That is fantastic that he is doing so well with potty training.

Name/SO's Name: Katie

Children's names and ages: J- 32, A- 29, and Zaydren almost 13 months

Any new milestones or fun stories: He's always up to something lol.  He's been copying a lot of words lately.  Light, balloon, potty, bath just for a few.  He's also interested in potty training and he will bring me his potty books, wants to sit on the potty, etc.  He'll bring me a diaper often after he goes or stands by the changing places.  He also told me this am after nursing and playing for a few Potty! So took him in and sat him on the potty (big one with a ring on it) and he peed!!  His diaper was dry too.  So we are slowly going with.

What are you looking forward to this month: Ummmm nothing really

Just for fun, complete this phrase - "Before I had kids, I thought _______" I wouldn't be a single mom.

Kate- I know, I was thinking the same thing! Like how is she even licensed? And she wonders why "business is slow"....

Katie- OMG how awesome that Z is already using the potty!  He is so mature for his age!!!

Well we visited another home daycare this morning.  I really liked this one as they had a lot more structured activities, but of course still individualize the schedule to each baby's needs.  And they seemed to have a better communication system with parents.  DH said it was "too structured" and that it felt more like a center than a family......Don't really see why that's a problem.  I guess I'm used to more structure since I used to work in a daycare.  We have a couple more places to visit so I hope we find our perfect fit

Mandy-  Hope the party goes well.. Sounds like a lot of fun!

Amy- Hope Elaine's favorite word is momma and continuely uses it! ;-)

Sandy- Enjoy the fair.  Glad potty training is going well.

Alyssa- Too cute about his words!!

Liz- Peter is too funny!  Sounds like he has a good imagination.  What's with boys and their penises?  LOL!

Ruth- Good luck on daycare.  That one sounds insane about the cribs!  I'd be avoiding there too!!

Kate- Understand the school thing.  Always good to have the fun times but not get the attitude all day long too!!

Cassie- Too cute about the doll and Benjamin.  Hope he does great as a big brother too.

Katja- Sounds like Eric is doing great!!

Cassie- Sounds like Simon is doing great with potty training too!

AFM: Z is trying to potty training today too.  He's also still having issues when I have dairy.  Sigh.. He's all about balls and walks too.  He's very curious and getting pretty smart too!  :smileyhappy:

Katie - Z is too cute. Isn't it funny how young their interests develop? Jensen wasn't even one yet when he really got into trains and cars and now at almost 3 he still loves trains and cars so much! It still makes me laugh that when I was pregnant we decorated everything in airplanes, things that move by flying through the air, and his preference of transportation became trains, something that is very much tied to the ground lol!

Liz - Oh gosh I am so not looking forward to anatomy discovery lol!

Alyssa - Too cute!

Sandy - That is so great about PT! I hope Jensen is that easy! Want to take over for me? :smileywink:

Ruth - I think a big problem in daycares with infants is under stimulation and the whole, leave them laying on their back in a crib all day issue. I would lean more towards structure too. Hope you guys find the perfect balance!

Cassie - Jensen LOVES pretending he has a baby. He even plays that his big Thomas trains are mommies and daddies and the small Thomas trains are babies lol! I am sure Benjamin is going to be an awesome big brother!

Katja - Glad to hear from you guys!

Cassie - That is so sweet about Simon. Jensen wanted to be treated like a baby too when I got pregnant, and even still does if I pay too much attention to Blake.

Love hearing everyone's responses to "before I was a parent..."  Very funny.  And yah, I'm giving this a shot from memory, so my apologies to those I miss!

Amy - doesn't that suck!? BOTH my girls said "dada" first, right to their daddy. Wrapped around their little fingers he is. :smileywink: What was Jensen's first word?

Liz - Peter cracks me up! Where do kids come up with this stuff!?

Katja - holy cow, you got an early roller, mover and shaker there! I'm so glad he's doing so well and you guys are all settling in!

Katie - shut up. You are NOT potty training Z already! Just, no way. LOL.

Ruth - uh, yah, I wouldn't be taking my kid to that daycare. It's a crime the way some people run their daycares. Ah, thats cute that Anu found a little friend too. My girls are enamored with my goddaughter who is just a year older than them. It's nice to have other little babies around.
