Ruthie,

We used a Safety 1st Tub Seat when Selin became too big for her whale tub. We used it until well beyond her 1st year.

Amazon is showing its out of stock but we got ours from BRU. GL!

Ruth - oh sorry, I was thinking of the whale tub we had - it had an insert thing in the middle that our girls really couldn't arch themselves over. I hear ya on the kitchen sink... I'm not a huge fan either, but it's a back saver sometimes! (I bleached our sink regularly)  :smileywink:  I gave J a bath tonight and she refused to sit down, so she got a bath standing up while I held her under the armpit to make sure she wouldn't fall. So annoying! Let us know what kind of solutions you come up with!

Ruth - I was going to suggest the sink :smileyhappy: One of my favorite bloggers, who has three boys now, had the funniest post about how she bathed each child when they were newborns. The first child had a special little tub, the second child just went in a regular tub, and the third one was in the kitchen sink!

Anyway, Evan hated baths (still not a huge fan), and he struggled a lot during them. So, at first, we put the little tub in the big tub. Then, we just started putting him in the big tub with just an inch or so of water. He still screamed the whole time, so we just did it as quick as possible, and we only bathed him 1-2 times a week. Once he was able to sit up, he started to tolerate it a bit more. Good luck!

Ella - I hear you on wondering if you really want to have another! LOL! I kind of wish we started TTC a couple months back when Evan was going though a really good period. He's been really frustrating lately though, and I'm wondering about TTC at the moment!

*waving hi to everyone else* There actually were a few other posts I wanted to respond to, but I can't remember right now, sorry!

Oh, and I know the kitchen sink is a pretty standard place for baby baths, but I just can't stomach the thought! lol!  I keep thinking of all the weird food DH preps in there and even though we clean the sink I just can't think of putting Anu in there for a bath. :smileyhappy:

Like I said, we are having a hard time with the whale tub because he keeps arching his back and either starts sliding down flat in the water or almost falls out the side.  Also, our shower/tub is the kind with sliding doors and it's kinda tricky trying to lean over it to do anything.  I guess it's just one of those things I'll have to figure out my own tricks.  I'd like to be able to take him in the big tub without having to depend on DH, but the boy just does not like to sit or recline :smileywink:

Toddlerhood: Stoppit, you guys are scaring me with all this talk about toddler behavior! I feel like we are already entering that phase and I'm really REALLY not ready for it. The tantruming has begun... doesn't 14 months seem a bit early?!

Ruth/Bathing: yah, like Jess said - little whale tub in the big tub? I'm having similar issues with the girls who are squirmy and wanting to stand and have also decided baths are dumb. What about the kitchen sink???

Identical twinness: all they can tell in utero is if the babies have their own sacs and placentas - if they share, then they are definitely identical, but if they have their own, there is still a 20-30% chance of them being identical. If the egg splits early (within the first two days), they will have their own sacs/placentas. The only way to tell for sure is to have a DNA test done. We didn't do it earlier because we just assumed they were fraternal (and our health care provider wouldn't do one so we had to pay for it). But their looks just became too similar so we decided to have it done. It's hard to explain to people who don't have twins, but considering I had thought of them as fraternal for so long, it really is a big shift in my thinking about my pregnancy, their relationship with each other, etc.  I blogged about it here if you want to read more. :smileyhappy:   http://threegeminisandasagittarius.blogspot.com/2012/08/who-knew-dna-edition.html

Ruthie - have you tried the whale bath in the tub?? We had to start doing that because gabby was getting way to splashing on the counter..Otherwise maybe try it in the kitchen.. GL

Ella - I go through what you are going through every day and I am not even home with her all day long. I know we obviously can't turn back and are on our way to #2 soon, but there are days where I am freaking going how am I going to go to just daycare with the 2 of them, or to the store, or just get them dressed in the morning. EEEK! Gabby is very particular (like I wrote about earlier in the month) and this morning she freaked because I didn't put her sandwich on a plate big enough for her to open her sandwich (god forbid she eats it like an adult) and then she wanted a fork for it, and then the cap had to come off her milk, and then back on (repeat) and then I forgot to put honey on it, and then she wanted to "scoot" closer to the table in her high chair and before all this I had to have the high chair in just the exact right spot. I know this morning it was because she went to bed later last night and got up at the same time she normally does, but still. HUGS!!

Christine - How can you be mad at her when she says she is sorry she isn't listening. OMG so cute! But again I feel your pain.

Andi - I guess I didn't realize there was a question if they were fraternal or identical....and besides just knowing does it make a difference. I am like Ella, it totally intrigues me.

Waving hi to everyone else!

small update on Gabby. she moves up to her Early Preschool room on the 20th - transitions for a week (not that she needs it) and then starts full time there on the 27th. I can't believe she is going to be 2 on the 17th...and the fact that she isn't going to be a toddler but in the early preschool is exciting and sad all at the same time! On Monday she was there for a full day and LOVED It. she came home saying "Spend day with Farmer" Ms. Farmer is oneo f the teachers in the Early Preschool rooms and she LOVES her. it's so adorable! she gets to do art 2 times a day and that's all you need to say to her is art. In fact this morning she was having a hard time letting me go to work and leave her there and one of her teachers was like "Do you want to spend the whole day in EPS1?" and her eyes lit up and she was like "bye mama"

Andi-  That is so cool to find out that the girls are identical! I know a lot of people would say "duh, of course they are!" but with IF treatments you would usually think multiples are from multiple eggs.  I know I'm way behind on this but is there a reason you weren't able to tell that during pregnancy from their ultrasounds?

Christine- I totally hear you on the getting ready for the school year! I go back in less than 2 weeks and soo not looking forward to it

AFM- Well we finally decided on a daycare provider.  We went with the home daycare that seems the most structured.  It is run by this sweet Hawaiian lady and she really tries her best to accommodate each parent's wishes.  Took a lot of debating with DH though.  He wanted the more "family-like" setting instead and kept saying that this lady was "too professional"......And the problem with that is?......Lol.  But then he decided it would be best especially when his parents come.  Even if they are able to take care of Anu, we would still want him to go to daycare for 2-3 days/week for the socialization and the structure.

And, I have a silly question.  I know this is one of those things that mommas just need to figure it out but I could really use some tips for bathtime! lol.  We have one of those baby tubs that are shaped like a whale; we always would set it on the bathroom floor and sat down on the floor to give Anu his bath and he LOOOVES baths.  Then he started learning to kick his legs and was splashing water all over the floor so I thought hmmm that's slippery and dangerous.  So next bath we decided to take him in the big tub with us and have been doing that for a while now.  I hold him while DH lathers him up.  It's very nice but requires both me & DH to be able to do it.  Last week DH was a little busy making dinner and I wanted to give Anu a bath myself so I decided let's do the baby tub again, just put some towels on the floor.  Well now he will not sit in his baby tub- he always arches his back and then starts sliding down.  Scared the crap out of me, I could hardly bathe him myself and needed DH to help anyway.  And now he's going through the whole I-wanna-stand-up-all-the-time thing so last night's bath was difficult.  I mean I know that babies are very very squirmy, duh.  Just wish there was an easier way to do this so I could do it on my own and not have to depend on DH if he's not around lol!

Christine and Ella- You are not alone!!! Fede has been acting TERRIBLY lately, his tantrums have been getting worse and worse, and at least once a day I feel like screaming in a pillow!!!! To make matters worst, he doesn't talk even half what your girls talk, so although he undertands everything we say, if the problem/feeling is too complex he can't verbalize it, which only frustrates him more...

Anyways, I was talking to my mom the other day and she said I had to be patient and that 2 & 3 where terrible! (sorry Ella), that you could always tell when a kid was sreaming and kicking at a store you could always tell he/she was 3!!!! LOL!

But they are also the funniest and cutest at this age, so I guess there is a silver lining, right?

Teddy is teething, teething some terrible so it's really hard to tell if he's the way he is because of the teeth (which I think is the case) or because of what may have happened the other night. I'm waiting to talk to his ped at his well child visit, unless it happens again then we'll go to the ER.

Ruth: funny store about identical twins - my niece is almost exactly a year younger than Ray and I had them out together when they were 2 and 3 respectively. Someone stopped me in the mall and asked if they were identical twins - um yeah lady, ones a boy and ones a girl. Some people just don't think.
