Ruth - that is really scary about keeping the kids in cribs all day with the TV on! Glad you guys are on the same page regarding that place. Good luck finding something that fits (sounds like the first place is great).

Liz - LOL!! I love that you have to roar at the tigers!!! Peter is so funny!

Kate - I just ran a summer camp with 8-11 year olds, and I can see what you mean about 8 being worse than 2-3. I guess all stages have their good and bad parts.

Name/SO's Name: Kate and Day

Children's names and ages: Raymond (8.5 years today) and Teddy (17 months)

Any new milestones or fun stories: Ray is busy being 8, honestly 8 (and from what I have been told 9, and 10) make the 2s and 3s look like a summer vacation.  All of a sudden the attitude has started.  He's on vacation w/ my mom this week and at scout camp next week... and it's SO QUIET in the house without him.

Teddy is really starting to find his words, he seems to have a new one every day or so.

What are you looking forward to this month:  Both Ray coming home from his trips AND Ray going back to school.  I know sounds conflicting, but trust me when they get older you'll understand.

Just for fun, complete this phrase - "Before I had kids, I thought _______" I would be the perfect parent.

Erica (from the last thread) - I don't know if Ray's looking forward to going back to school but I sure am.  How are the homeschool preperations coming along?

Liz - Peter cracks me up... and they are such "boy" comments.  Ray's said more waky phrases (espeically involving his boy parts) than I can remember.

Ruth - That is crazy about keeping the kids in cribs all day.  That almost seems like it would be against the law or something.  I hope you guys find the perfect fit, because having the right daycare can really make or break the home/work balancing act.

Ruth - How scary!!! In their cribs all day?! WTH! Who would hand over their kids to her?! That is just horrifying to me. Glad your DH was on board with not going there! Those poor babies :smileysad:

Amy- Good luck with the move! And how awesome for Blake's first word!!! Though I'm sure you're hoping Elaine will say mama first lol

Sandy- Hope potty training goes well

AFM- Well we have a sorta busy week ahead of us.  Originally our plan when I went bac to work was that Bijon would be able to stay home with Anu during the day since his classes are in the evening.  However, now he got a full time TA position, (which will pay his full tuition + additional compensation) so that means we need to find a full-time care provider by the time he starts in September.  I'm actually kind of relieved about it because I was getting worried about how well Anu would do alone with Bijon all the time.  I think being around other children will be really good for him and hopefully we will find a place that will give him the right stimulation he needs.  We are touring some home daycares this week.  Yesterday we visited 2 places: one was really nice as the children were very active and there were a few adults there really interacting with them.  The lady said it's actually her mother who originally started the daycare, so it seems they've been doing this a long time and really know what they're doing.   The other home we visited, however, was just awful.  She was by herself and only had a couple children there, and she just had the TV on and said they stay in their cribs all day. WTH? That would have been our cheapest option, but BIjon said "I don't care if it's free, I'm not taking my baby there!" And I agree 200%

Name/SO's Name:  Ruth & Bijon

Children's names and ages:  Anondo ("Anu"), 3 months

Any new milestones or fun stories:  Anu is definitely getting more active and smiling more and more.  Making new sounds, and I'm not sure I would call it "laughing" but sometimes he makes this excited squeal or cackle sound, especially when he sees his Bijon.  Yesterday he made a new "friend."  We met an Indian family that lives in our building and they have a 5 month old little boy.  Anu kept flashing this huge grin at the other baby, and then when the other baby was upset and crying, Anu had this look of concern on his face lol

ETA: Almost forgot to mention, I definitely think teething is gonna start soon. Anu has been chowing down on his fingers like crazy!

What are you looking forward to this month:  I just know what I'm NOT looking forward to is going back to work on the 20th :smileysad:

Just for fun, complete this phrase - "Before I had kids, I thought _______"   I knew what tired was

Children's names and ages: Peter Amias, 23 months

Any new milestones or fun stories: Well, in the last two weeks, Peter has told everyone at daycare that Heather (the dog) is dead, woke me up repeatedly to tell me his penis hurts (yeah, IDK), and will now randomly stop playing to tell me the tigers are coming. I have to roar to make them go away.

What are you looking forward to this month: It's my birthday month. Bring on the cake!

Just for fun, complete this phrase - "Before I had kids, I thought _______" sleeping in meant staying in bed until 10am or later, not 7am.

Name/SO's Name: Alyssa/Kyle

Children's names and ages: Evan (1 year, 9 months)

Any new milestones or fun stories: Evan's vocabulary has exploded lately! He's saying probably 5 new words a day. We've stopped trying to keep track. He's also putting 2-3 words together (usually with "more" or "no" - his two favorites! LOL). Fun story: yesterday I went to the bathroom and when I came back, he was standing on the dining room table, throwing decorative balls into the living room. That defines him to a "T"!

What are you looking forward to this month: I'm heading to a conference on astronomy education in Tucson. I'm pretty excited to have a hotel room all to myself :smileyvery-happy:

Name/SO's Name: Sandy & Jason

Children's names and ages:smileyvery-happy:avid Nicholas 2.5 yrs

Any new milestones or fun stories: We have started night time potty training. So far it's hit or miss but he was dry almost all last week. The only reason I started was I ran out of pull ups in his size and he was waking up dry quite a few nights a week. Not sure if we will continue or not.  Other than that he's still doing great. He had his 2.5 yr checkup last week. he's in 50% for height and 78% for height. He's fallen in height a little but not surprising since neither of us are very tall.

What are you looking forward to this month: don't really have any plans other than the Indiana State Fair which we'll be going to on Friday.

Just for fun, complete this phrase - "Before I had kids, time by myself I took for granted. Now I see it as a luxury.

Name/SO's Name: Amy, DH Rob

Children's names and ages: Jensen (2 1/2) Blake and Elaine (8 months on the 7th)

Any new milestones or fun stories: Blake said his first word tonight! He has been talking a lot and practicing his d's but he has never said dada. I had hope he'd be the one to say mama first but tonight as Rob reached down to pick up Elaine Blake reached out and grabbed Rob and clearly said "dada". He didn't say it again or say anything after which leads me to believe he truly knew he meant Rob when he said it. So cute! But now Elaine is my last hope lol!

What are you looking forward to this month: MOVING!!! And my mom coming out for my birthday!

Just for fun, complete this phrase - "Before I had kids, I thought I knew a lot about kids." HA!
