Liz - Love your new siggy - too cute!

Hi ladies - the August thread has been created. Selin and I are flying to Canada bright and early tomorrow morning to visit my family (DH is driving up later in the week) so I won't be on a regular PC until we're back home next week. I'll be waving down below to all the Canadian gals on here! ;-)

Hey Ruth, just a couple of quick comments....

Fede is also "whole", and his Pedi said to leave his foreskin alone for now. If you bathe him regularly it shouldn't smell bad or anything. And let people talk... they will always talk!! LOL!! If your brother and SIL feel judged is because they are insecure about their choice.

Dairy- Don't feel so bad honey! I've had the same amount of dairy with Fede and Julia, and while Fede was the colic king, she had them maybe twice.... So maybe it is somehting else??? It doesn't seem logical that one icecream would mess him up for so long.... About the color, if he isn't uncomfortable, I wouldn't worry about the color of the poop, in my baby book it says anything from green to bright yellow is normal at this age....

Erica--Definitely sounds like she just swallowed too much mucus. Drainage makes me sick too.

Hi, girls!
Our PA trip is almost over. We planned to leave for FL on August 1st. However, Charlotte seems to have come down with something. On Friday, she sounded hoarse. On Saturday she woke up with a runny/stuffy nose, and I was wiping it all day long. Well, she woke up fussy this morning, and she immediately threw up. This was not a little spit up. She was definitely sick. She hardly responded as I cleaned her up. She's been napping and nursing all morning. I guess that's good.

Do you think that there is any chance that it is just a cold, and she simply swallowed mucus through the night (due to stuffy nose)? Maybe that upset her stomach. I'm hoping. If my whole clan comes down with a stomach thing, we will never get back to FL.

Wow I have missed so much......

Congrats to Cass and Sandy!!!!!!

Katja- So good to hear your LO is doing well and how neat that he is already getting strong at tummy time!  Anu has gotten pretty good head strength now but he still sometimes will just grunt and chew on his hands at tummy time....like it's too tough for him lol

Adrienne- Right now I'm sure I couldn't retract Anu's foreskin even if I wanted to!  Actually I just recently stumbled across a website with a lot of information about circumcision/ intact penises  that I had no idea about before.  So I've shared some articles on FB for the purpose of expecting/future parents to have the info and bust the myths like "intact is dirty" or "intact is soo hard to keep clean".....unfortunately it's led to a bunch of arguments from my bro & SIL cuz I guess they think I'm judging them for circumcizing.  Not judging, just trying to inform is all   *sigh*   And then when my mom was watching me change his diaper she goes "So which part of his skin is the extra part?"  I'm like....um.....none of it........lol!

AFM- We all made it through our family vacay and back in one piece! lol!  Actually the plane ride there was easy since Anu just slept the whole time; coming back was just a little tougher.  My parents were super excited to see Anu.  He really seemed to enjoy playing with Grandpa.....Grandma however was a little too overstimulating at times I think.  But it was all good.  My sister's wedding was very nice.....even though she picked the hottest day of the year; it was 109 degrees! I thought I would melt! lol   Thank God it was indoors.  So glad to be back in cooler weather but Anu has gotten a little bit of a runny nose and cough now

One thing that's bothering me, or well I guess it's more so bothering Anu:  From 2 weeks I had cut out dairy from my diet when Anu was really gassy.  There's been a few times that I "cheated" and had a little dairy and it seemed to make him grunt & strain a little more when pooping/passing gas.  Well since his gas seemed to be a lot better, I "cheated" again when we went to Oklahoma.....there's an ice cream chain we always like to eat at and then having "comfort food" like chicken fried steak, biscuits in gravy.....the next day his poop turned green and it stayed green the whole time in OK, even after I went back to dairy-free.  Yesterday it was starting to look a little more yellowish, but then today it is spinach green again.  I don't get it.  I feel just awful :smileysad:

Adrienne, this is what we got Jonah: http://www.swimways.com/swim-sweater-p-20.aspx

Then I sewed an adjustable strap that run between his legs to help support him.

Aaaaaand harkening back to the very beginning of the month . . .

Ella--I LOL'd at Eliza's logic too!  Hehe.  It only seems right that bowling WOULD be a pre-requisite for margarita drinking!   Hehe

Emmy--Hahaha about your rhyme and it's connection to sitting on the potty!  That's awesome that she is showing some potty awareness already!

Katie---(((HUGS))) about no timeline for number two.  I just have to say though that as someone who ALSO wanted an 18 month-2 year spacing I literally thank God all the time that it didn't happen any sooner than it did.  Not only was I unprepared for 5 months of near-hyperemesis level m/s but I was also unprepared for how conflicted I would feel about getting pregnant when he was still nursing.  I literally had NO milk left by 12 weeks of pregnancy and when I got pregnant he was still nursing 6 times a day and probably having 10-15 ozs a day at that point.  I know not everyone dries completely up but a lot of people do--I mean, I had oversupply and had to block feed for like 2 months and I still COMPLETELY dried up.   Even though my plan was to have two close together, then a big space, then two more close together I would NEVER try to get them less than 2 years apart again and even this feels way too close to me.  Just wanted to share because even though you aren't in the position to quite discover on your own how conflicting it can be to have that close spacing .  . . idk, I'm not really the religious type but I do believe that God has a plan for each of us and everything happens in it's own good time.  I know that he has a plan for you, girl.  Z was in it and baby number 2 is already in it, too, I'm sure of it.  (((HUGS)))

That is weird that your sister is being so removed/distant!  I hope it has gotten better the last couple of weeks.  Do you have any clue what is causing this?  I thought you guys were close!

OMG all the pics of Z are SO FREAKING CUTE!!!  What a great photographer!

Ruth--Yeah I hate the bad info too and the idea of retracting and washing under his foreskin is soooooo weird to me!!  LOL For uncircumcized boys (as I'm sure you know) that is SUCH a tender area it's like suggesting to soap the inside of a lil girls labia!!  No soap should be going there, only natural and naturally clean body fluids!  I have tried a few times to retract Jamey's foreskin to like "see what's up under there"  and it is STILL going through the natural seperation process and unable to completely retract.  It's a process that is supposed to take many years and putting soap up there would ONLY introduce infection and issues.  Ehhhh!

I heard/read to wash the uncircumsized penis like you would a finger.  And honestly how often do you even wash your kids fingers one-by-one?  LOL!  I generally soap up the area and that's good enough for me.  Hahah

Alison--So cute about J swimming!  Can you post a link of the swimmy outfit/float you got for him?  I'm trying to find something good for Jamey--he LOVES swimming and I can't find a good like "non invasive" float that actually fits him.

Alyssa--Awww sooo cute the mental picture of DH and Evan going to bed.  Glad the toddler bed is working out and that is too funny that he sometimes forgets that he can get out of it!  Hehehe

Mari--Aww that is cute about Fede feeling sorry about hitting Julia---awww.  Jamey is also a very slow talker and more likely to felt remorse after the fact--I can imagine this exact scenario at our house in a few short months!  LOL

Amy--I wanna see new pics of the twins--they change SO fast at that age!

For us, not that it isn't sometimes hard with him--but the first night we showed Jamey his own bed he was really excited and wanted to sleep in it.  I think if you can find a bed/sheets/something they are really excited about sometimes they really like the new independence of their own bed!  Hopefully the transition goes easy for you once you are ready for it.

Ruby--that is good to hear about Maxim's talking!  Jamey is a very slow talker and now at 20 months is FINALLY saying Mama (to actually mean me), No (oh), yes (es) and TRYING to copy if we ask him to say new words though I have to say he's pretty bad at it.  He says Dada fine when he's babbling but when we ask him to say Dada he says "Na-Na" (WTH?).  Anyway hearing that Maxim is talking a lot more now gives me hope--I'm sure there is nothing wrong with Jamey's ears or brain so I think it's really about deciding that talking is worth doing which he seems to have finally realized.

Christine--Hahaha about you asking DH about his "Anne chick" hahah

Ash--OMG so cute "Teddy woke up?  Bus ride?  Car ride?"  hahaha.  Sounds like Jamey in terms of wanting to start playing as soon as he opens his eyes (DOESN'T sound like him in terms of the fact that your kid is actually speaking and mine isn't, LOL--I can't wait for that!)

I LOVE the Giver!!  There is a "companion book" called Gathering Blue if you are interested.

That stinks about the house but it sounds like even if you hadn't been on vaca, it would have been a real struggle to get it!  Maybe something even more perfect will come up again soon. (((HUGS)))

AFM--Okay I have to stop for now!!  I've been avoiding FB though so I can try to catch up on the boards first.  Hehe.

Jamey finally got his last canine (I think), and I thought we'd FINALLY get a break from the teething but instead he's been SO SO SO fussy today and reaching WAY BACK in his mouth so apparently we are going right into the 2-year old molars.  Idk if I should be glad to get as much as possible over before baby number 2 comes but honestly I really thought we would get a month or two of break.  Siiiiigh.

Kate, I do love this age! How is Teddy doing? Is Ray looking forward to school yet?

Andi, I can totally see you juggling babies surrounded by bubbles. Charlotte has been taking baths in the big tub for quite awhile now. Sometimes with her brothers. Sometimes alone. I do worry a bit because she is a squirmer. Jonah still HATES, HATES getting his hair rinsed. It causes such a drama!

Hey Kate! Good to "see" ya... how are the boys doing?

On bathing - hmmmm... the girls sit up reliably, I think it just makes me nervous that I am outnumbered, even though I would be right there. Especially since they are used to playing together outside of the tub and are *very* used to snatching toys from one another. Unfortunately, they also occasionally get really upset at said toy snatching and will throw a little tantrum (which does occasionally involved throwing themselves onto the floor...I don't want it to become throwing themselves either face first or head back straight into the tub. :smileyembarrassed:) The other squirrely thing about it is that they both are HATING having their hair rinsed (getting the water in their faces) and can throw little fits when I'm trying to do that. So I'm imgaing wrestling with one slippery baby and trying to watch/not knock over the other slippery baby. Maybe I'll try it over the weekend when DH will be here too for the first time, just to see how it goes.
