Thanks everyone! We're kind of doing both purees and BLW to figure out what will work best for Evan. He seems to want to be more of a self-feeder, so BLW is looking more promising at this point. Our doctor said to give each food 3 days before introducing something new, so we've been following that (2 days on rice cereal but he hated it so we moved to bananas for 3 days then I tried apple sauce yesterday).

Christine - Evan goes nuts when we eat too! So, now we're giving him a piece of banana to "eat" while we eat. We'll probably move on to something else soon. That's annoying about your MIL and the baby food :P

Jess - I'm so glad Gabby is eating well now! It seems like with everything, a switch just turns and they just "get it".

Sandy - that's so frustrating about the baby sitter! I hope your back-up works out.

Alyssa--

Peter ate his first chunk of banana at 5.5 months, and eats a half jar of purees at daycare every day. I think he's more the exception, rather than the rule, because he'll eat anything we give him.

Everyone else--

What did you do for meats? I really don't want daycare to feed him jarred pureed meats (ICK!), so I plan to start sending some for them to use for BLW. What did you start with/how did you offer them?

Alyssa -THat's what we are doing too, both of them and its been working out great. What I find nice about is, is I can send the purees to daycare and not have to deal with them (As I hate them) and then we can do BLW at home. I throw in the cereal every once in awhile. and when we are out and about I can order something healthier (LIke CHristine was saying) and give her some of that... it's also making me realize what I am eating.

Sandy - Sorry about the Babysitter, so not good. I really hope your backup works. That's the one reason we went with a center, but again pros and cons to both right?? I hope it works out because that's no fun to try to figure out.

Ruby - Sorry to hear about the job stuff. It's amazing how they can expect you to have the registration, but not be able to get it. It's like in my field a lot of people need 3 to 5 years experience (Which I have now, but when I was looking for the job I didn't) but in order to get that experience you needed a job. My MIL Is running into that as well...HUGS!! Awesome about your trip to see the fam. Have fun!

AFM - Gabby is constipated. First time ever in her short little life...The poor thing. She is definately straining when she poops and her poops are more solid. Still squishy, but definately not like normal. She normally has 1 to 2 maybe 3 BM's a day, but at the least she has 1 large one. last week she was having 1 to 2 in the morning before going to DC. Sunday and Monday, nothing, yesterday at DC only one. and then last night she had 4 but they were only quarter size. She was sitting in her high chair at dinner - while I was getting it ready and all of a sudden she screams out, I hear a toot and then I see her bearing down more...needless to say we didn't sleep well. THe only good news on this is I took her out of her car seat and she slept just as well as she did in it...so I was taking this opportunity to get her back into her crib. I sent some greek yogurt with to daycare . Maybe I was giving too many puffs and starches...I was thinking of getting some apple juice to give her and see if that helps. thoughts?

Liz - I haven't started sending meats to daycare, we do that more at home. I have given her chicken and some fish but she mainly just throws it on the floor right now.

Thanks Ruby- I will try that tonight. Hopefully the yogurt will help her. I just feel so bad for her. Seems like if it's not one thing it's another you know? and she is a little trooper, so happy all the time, except for this..

Alyssa- I started Fede on solids at 6 months old,but that was clearly a mistake. He refused to eat most of it until he was 7mo. Then he only wanted pureed stuff, he hated anything lumpy. But by 10 months old, he was suddenly ready and loved everything. Now he eats the same we are eating. Ruby- I'm so sorry about your job situation... It's maddening!!!!! I truly hope you can find a way around it. My only advice is to take the f** class if that's what you need. If it is all stuff you already know, you'll be able to do it pretty much with your "eyes closed". Of course you mentioned something about not being able to afford it... I hope there is some kind of scholarship or something! If not... Why don't you try finding a job in another field... just as a temporary thing... it's just that you sound like you need to work and get out of the house ASAP!!!!
