Where has this year gone! I was just thinking today that in a month Simon will be 1 year old. How on earth is that possible!

I can't believe how big all the kids are getting! Where is time going?

Christine - Glad you had a good time at your mom's. I can't believe that Selin was up that late. Did she sleep in longer for you in the morning?

Cassie - 11 months! Again where did time go.

AFM - We are just getting ready for the holidays, it's been a super busy week. We got another 6 inches or so of snow on Monday - Plus a little freezing rain. We are 4inches away from breaking the all time record of the snowiest December, which I think is 33inches or something. We are supposed to get another inch tomorrow.

We also finally closed on our refi. We tried to do this about 2 years ago and it didn't work out, so we tried again directly with the bank and got both our loans into one at a 4.25%. So no payment in January!!

I figured everyone must be busy since I hadn't seen any posts.

Simon walked on his own!!!!! It was only 4 steps but it was a total surprise. DH and I were sitting on the couch talking to his parents and Simon was crusing along the edge and he just let go and started walking into the kitchen. I was in total shock and of course didn't get any pictures cause I was trying to get DH's attention so he wouldn't miss it. Simon walked then plopped down on his knees and kept on going what he was after. He hasn't done it since but I knew it was coming, he has been practicing standing on his own the last couple of days without anything to hold on to.

Jess - Congrats on the refi! Hope you don't get more snow! We might be getting a good snow on Christmas but I'm hoping it will pass because we have to be at my parents' house in the morning. So far we haven't gotten more than a few inches at a time.

Sandy - Glad you and David are feeling better! My cough was getting better last week after I went to the doc but since Sun it's been back again. So annoying!

Cassie - How exciting that both you and DH were there to see Simon take his first steps! And on his 11th month birthday no less! I know how much it must've meant to you to be there. :-)

Hi All,

I haven't posted in ages! Sorry! I do keep up with the thread though; I read everything :) But I don't think I'll be able to remember enough to do personals (plus, there's so many of us in here now!).

So AFM... Teddy's doing great. Obviously the one thing he really concentrates on now is speech; and it's just so funny to see how he loves to learn new words. His pronunciation has gotten TONS better - where he used to shorten words with many syllables, he's now saying the whole word (i.e. helicopter was he-cop, but now he goes he-li-cop-taaah!). He's even mastered "Hippopotamus" ;) I love it how he can now express what he thinks and feels. Yesterday, I told him I needed to call Daddy, and he "acted out" how this conversation should take place: "Ring ring, hello Daddy, more milk please! Bye bye, see ya tomorrow."

He's also becoming quite the little charmer - when I put on clothes he likes, Teddy will say "Nice jumper! Mummy look nice!" or the other day I braided my hair and he admired it greatly and said, "Oh, Mummy's hair look pretty!". Honestly, those things just put the biggest smile on my face! - He has also started to call the nursery staff "sweetheart" or "darling" (I guess that's what they / I call him a lot).

So I guess we're getting ready for Christmas... annoyingly, quite a few things I ordered from amazon got stuck in the post because of the frickin' snow. So poor DH won't be getting much on Christmas Day! Teddy's main present will be a Brio wooden train set. He plays with similar toys at nursery a lot so I know he'll like it; and I'm looking forward to play with it too :)

Teddy's much more aware of everything this year, although I don't think he really gets the whole Christmas thing yet. We went to see Father Christmas at our church and he just eyed him suspiciously and then handed his present over to Father Christmas (not quite the point!). He loves Christmas trees though and has now clocked that nicely wrapped parcels are "Teddy's presents" and need to be opened immediately.

It's weird to think that his "walking anniversary" is coming up now - he took his first unaided steps last year on Boxing Day... and now he's running around like a lunatic most of the time, ha ha. It's strange to think though how little he was a year ago, and how he seemed to be so big and grown up to me then!

Oh and did I mention I had his hair cut short a couple of weeks ago? Partly because I thought I'd have to let go of the image of him being a little baby; and partly so I wouldn't have to go to the hairdressers every 4 weeks as this was getting quite expensive! His hair grows so quickly and it's so thick that I can't get through it with my scissors at home. I'll have to upload some new pictures soon (I'm so bad at that!).

I guess this was rather enough about us for now, so I'll just finish by wishing everyone a Happy Christmas! :)

Oh Anna! Teddy sounds like such a little man! What a character he is - I wouldn't be able to keep a straight face hearing him say all those cute things. You'll have to try to catch him chatting on video so we can hear his cute British accent. :-)

Merry Christmas to you, too!!

Anna - What a cutie pie! I love hearing those stories. When my cousin david was little (he is 8 now) he could say Escavator (one of those big machines they have on construction site). it was so adorable how he said it. I LOVE it when they start to talk and put sentences together. so cute! I hope you have a great holiday.

AFM - Just had to share a sleeping success we have had the past two nights. Sorry if this is a repeat, I can't remember what I wrote yesterday. But She has been getting a little to big for the swing to sleep in it all night, she just moves around so much in it. it was starting to scare me. so I put her in her crib the other night after a bath, she was exhausted from it and she slept for about 4 hours and then another 5 hours in it. Well last night she slept from 8:30 to 11:30 and then from 12:00 to 7:00 and I had to wake her up at 7. I couldn't believe it!! We are making progress! I have been putting her in her crib in the morning after I get her dressed so I think that's helping her see that her crib isn't all that bad :)

Have a great holiday!

Wow, it's been almost a week since the last post! Hope everyone is doing well! I cannot believe it will be a new year this weekend!

AFM - We are doing good here. Selin turned 10 months last week and she has mastered cruising. My family and I are all betting she'll be walking in a month or so. She spends most of her free play standing up instead of sitting! She has become even more vocal in the last week and I predict she's going to be a little chatterbox once she does start talking. Still waiting for her first tooth. Is it normal for it to take this long??

On the insurance front, we're working with a new agent to try to figure out out options and even he's frustrated because he can't get a straight answer from BCBS as to what our options are for adding maternity care. So I'm trying to be patient but it's killing me that we're wasting precious time. On the plus side, DH has been mentioning baby #2 a lot lately. On Christmas he said to me, "maybe next Christmas you'll be PG" and tonight at dinner he said how much having kids has changes him (for the better) and then he turned to Selin and said, "you might be getting a brother or sister soon!" I'm so glad he's bringing it up on his own but also find it ironic that it's at a time when we can't even begin to think about TTC because of stupid insurance. :-/
