How does Evan do when you mix bm and formula? Peter made the most terrible face and refuses to drink them mixed, although he's ok with them separate.

Just noticed Adrienne already asked this, lol. Whoops!

Can you change my ticker to the two in my signature? Henry needs added and Roree's needs changed. :-)

Liz - he doesn't seem to mind it at all. I figured I would try mixing them first, so it dilutes the taste of the formula. I haven't given him straight formula yet.

Adrienne - yeah, I can see how that would happen with the earlier wake up time. Usually Evan falls asleep downstairs with us sometime between 8-9pm, then wakes up for maybe 20 minutes to eat and goes back to sleep. Then he wakes up sometime between 4-6am. So, I'm hoping him just sleeping right through won't be too big of a difference for him and he'll just catch up on feeding in the morning. We'll see though!

Alyssa,

I would just let his bedtime evolve as he wants. Most babies need to get to bed early and you never know, he may sleep through and only need one feed. Maxim was a not before 9pm bedtime until about 4-5 months. It was SO NICE to get my evenings back with him going to bed earlier and earlier.

I've learned through the course of this that their sleep patterns are not consistent at all. Maxim was STTN at 2 months old (about 9-9) with no encouragement from us and then up again for one feed starting at 5 months which he has been doing ever since. Now he's got this weird sleep regression thing related to teething and separation anxiety so he's throwing us off again.

I think taking it one night at a time is key to keeping your sanity and be very thankful for the "full" nights of rest (which for us, is if babe only gets up once around 5am to nurse quickly then back to bed for a few hours).

Liz,

Love your new sig! Glad he is growing and that the supplementing is going as well as can be expected, even though I know you hate it. Have you tried breast compressions while you are pumping? I did that on my trip and it seemed to help get more milk out (and faster too). Also I really press to the sides of my breasts when pumping and feeding, there is a bigger duct there that really empties out when I do that...about the only good advice I got from a nurse way back in the beginning.

Too funny about the cats. Maxim figured out that Figaro was a friend when we got home from our trip at Christmas. I have the cutest pics of him petting Fig and tickling his feet. Figaro is so patient and good with him too. He doesnt pull on his hair or attack his face so thats good. I take every opportunity Maxim takes interest in him to teach him how to pet Fig nicely. Dont know if its getting through but its good practice and so far so good.

Erin,

Avery is SUCH a sweetie!! OH my gosh! Love that smile!! You definitely need a new sig...but then so do I, haha!

Ella,

I LOVE your baby!! That is hilarious about the lion roaring and I read on your blog she says da-da in her sleep too...what a heart breaker!

Adrienne,

No I didnt think so...from her blog pics, she looked normal to me but apparently in person she was "huge." Probably just her own self-consciousness about her belly size really, we're all huge to ourselves. Some people were teasing her about twins but not sure why other than twins run in her family I guess.

AFM,

Last night was better. I did a modified CIO with him, checking in on him every 10 minutes. Finally after 40 minutes, I went and cuddled with him in his chair and he was out not long after. So Im going to give it a few more nights to see if this is habit from Grandma's or if he is a tension increaser. I think he's more of a tension increaser but every time I checked on him (gave him his soother, rubbed his tummy), he would calm down and his eyes got super heavy like he was so close. So I dont know what to think. He used to just cry for a bit and then konk right out. Also, he got up at 11:00pm and DH went in, tried to get him to calm down without picking him up which didnt work so he rocked him back to sleep...it only took about 15 minutes and then he didnt wake up again until 6:15 this morning. So much better than the night before when he got up a few times.

We took him swimming together last night. He does really well. I wouldnt say he LOVES it yet but he isnt fussy like the first time. The songs are cute and the instructor does a really good job even with the little wee babes. I think Im going to dunk him after a few more times. I didnt want to do it right away because he was a little leery and I didnt want him to be scared or upset with the water. Now that he's getting used to it, I'll dunk him. The instructor said the earlier the better so they get used to it and it doesnt hurt them. So we'll see. Oh and he LOVES the therapy pool which is like a big extra warm bath tub, he just kicks back and relaxes!
