Thanks for all the words about MIL, ladies. I'm over her, completely. She will no longer be hearing any information about Peter; even DH agreed.

Ella--we live just over an hour away. At one point, we were next door (just for a couple months). I wound up leaving a tube of KY Jelly sitting on the coffee table so she would stop coming in unannounced. Completely nuts.

AFM--Peter's appt was today. At 4months old, he's 10 pounds, 11 oz. The doctor wants us to start supplementing and come back in three weeks for a weight check. We're meeting with an LC tomorrow before we do anything, because I don't want to kill my supply. I can see why women give up. We've had nothing but struggles since he was born, from having no interest in latching/rooting at all, to poor milk transfer (I suspect this is still our problem), to weight issues. I'm pretty much feeling like a failure, but still refusing to give up.sig by ChrissySig by Chrissy at SMFB! Lilypie First Birthday tickersby chrissy bottlemommy greenby chrissy water

Liz - Sorry things are going so rough! HUGS! Good for you for sticking it out but don't get too stressed out. Sounds like he is doing just fine! KUP on what the LC says. Ella - I was just thinking the same thing the other day about all of us getting together and having a WTTG Play date. Maybe this summer you and I can meet up with the girls when it's nice out :) Sorry about Eliza's molars, poor thing. I felt so bad and I don't look forward to the day when Gabby gets her first tooth. We think she is teething, but haven't seen any come through yet. Sandy - I am glad you and DH are on the same page for TTC#2. that's great! Awesome on the walking full time! Ruby - I am so jealous of your trip! You guys are going to have a great time. Waving hi to everyone else. I was doing that on memory so I am sure I missed some people. AFM - Sorry if this is duplicate, my brain is awful lately. Gabby is moving like crazy, she does this thing when she is on her back where she scoots her butt and "moves" to where she wants to go. She has also been face planting into the blanket when she is on her belly. Daycare said she rolled over both ways, but I have yet to see back to tummy. But then again when she is home with us it's only about 1 1/2 hours until she is off to bed... We started putting her to bed at 7:00 and that's been so helpful. I think she is going through a growth spurt because she sleeps just fine (I even put her down last night a little drowsy and not all the way out) and she sleeps until midnight. then feed, change and down again until 4 and then again until I wake her up at 7 to get her ready :) So the "nest" is working and the earlier bed time is working great.

Ruby - your trip sounds amazing! How nice that you and DH can get away on your own!

Ella - I love the idea of getting together for a play date :)

Liz - I'm so sorry that the whole BFing thing has been full of problems for you. (((hugs))) and just know you are NOT a failure! You have persevered through so much where others would have given up. That's amazing!! Remember too that it's not all or nothing. Yes, you might have to supplement, but that doesn't mean you have to stop BFing completely. Hang in there and let us know what the LC says.

Sandy - yay for DH being on board for TTC #2 on the same timeline as you!

Jess - so glad the earlier bed time is working for Gabby!

**waving hi to everyone else**

AFM - this has been my first week alone with Evan and we've done really well! I was SO stressed about it, but it has (thankfully) been easier than I thought it would be. I'm only pumping 5 times a day now (I'm still able to keep up with him, and am even a bit ahead, so that's great), so I only have to do it twice during the day. Usually I can do it when he naps or when he's having play-mat time.

We also had two play dates this week, which was so much fun! One of my friends brought her baby over to my place (him and Evan are just two days apart), and then today I went over to another friends house (her son is a month older). It was great to hang out with other mommies :)

Liz - Oh good, at least you live over an hour away. OH LORD I cannot fathom how you lived next door to her. LOL about the KY Jelly - that is brilliant! I'm so sorry you're feeling badly about BFing and are faced with the possibility of supplementing. I can totally understand how frustrating that would be :( I'm glad you're waiting to see what the LC has to say. KUP!

Jess - 7:00 is Eliza's bedtime, too, has been since she was about 5 months old. I noticed your other thread - we aren't CIO people so I have no advice there, but I can say that a consistent bedtime routine and early-ish time really helps sleep overall (for most babies!), as does consistent napping. We've definitely noticed that the saying "sleep begets sleep" is true for Eliza. GL! It sounds like you've had a couple of great nights so far, so that's a good start!

Alyssa - Aren't mommy and baby play dates the best? Until I went back to school in September, I went to at least one or two a week - I just had to get out of the house and talk to other mommies in person! The ULTIMATE play date would definitely be a WTTG meetup :) OMG we'd all have so much fun!

(x-posted from Working and Pumping)

Update from the LC:

Based on the scale there, DS had gained 3.7oz since yesterday. I doubt that, so someone's scale is off. ;) Either way, it was nice to see a gain. Ultimately, the issue is my supply. DS was only able to get an ounce from each side, which is in line with what I pump at the same time of day. After he finished, I was able to pump 10mls, so we're assuming he's getting as much as he possibly can.

The plan: we'll supplement with my freezer stash (and formula once that's exhausted--at daycare) while I work to increase my supply. I'll be using fenugreek and blessed thistle until I get some domperidone. We're guessing I'm producing between 22-24oz a day, so I really just need to increase a little.

The LC did say that if we didn't tell her we were worried about his weight, she wouldn't have guessed anything was wrong with him. He cooed and played the whole time we were there. So the goal is just to fatten him up a little bit, and try to get him back on his growth curve.

We've also decided that I'm probably not getting enough calories to support me and him, so I'm increasing everything. I struggle to get 15-1600 calories a day. I now have slimfast to use as snacks, whole milk, and the LC told me to go get a candy bar. I eat to hunger, but really don't eat that much during the day.

Thanks so much for all the support, ladies. It's so nice to have people that will "listen," even if it's online!sig by ChrissySig by Chrissy at SMFB! Lilypie First Birthday tickersby chrissy bottlemommy greenby chrissy water

Liz - We were just talking about this very issue at my LLL meeting yesterday! I am constantly hungry since BFing and I snack all day long. Oatmeal is also great for boosting your supply and I just bought Yogi Tea's nursing support blend and it also has fenugreek and blessed thistle in it. Definitely make sure youre eating enough and stay hydrated. Keep up the great work!!!

Liz - glad that you had a good meeting with your LC and you have a plan of attack now. Making sure you get enough to eat and drinking lots of water might be enough to increase your supply the little bit you need, but the supplements will help too I'm sure. You could check out the Exclusively Pumping board for more advice on how to increase supply too.

Well ladies, have a good week! We're off tomorrow to my in-laws to get baby and them ready for their week together and then leave Sunday for our getaway. I hope I dont cry when we say goodbye on Sunday. I hope he isnt a total fuss bucket for them all week without me and DH. He will be in good hands and we'll be so happy to see him when we get home. DH is so excited, he can barely contain himself and all our friends that are going are pumped too...its going to be a blast with tons of stories I"m sure! See you all next week :D
