Congrats on being done with school! That is so exciting. Wow about the job offer to full time. Atleast its nice to know you have something to fall back on. Sorry about the teaching job you didn't get. I got two rejection e-mails yesterday.

Hi ladies,

I need everyone's opinion on something real quick. As mentioned in my AFM, I have a potential FT job coming up through the company I am currently working PT for. I haven't heard anything further about the job since my boss and I chatted over the weekend.

I had advertised in a few places for summer tutoring and I have one client lined up so far and another just contacted me today. My first client is my friend's son and she has already told me that her schedule is flexible since she knows I could go back to work at any time. I totally forgot my ad was still out there until the second person contacted me today.

Here's my dilemma: I don't want to take on more tutoring clients if I might be getting this FT job. I totally forgot to bring it up when my boss and I were talking on Saturday and now I don't know if I should press him for a timeline or if I should just pull my tutoring ad altogether? My friend also sent a flyer to her son's preschool last week advertising my services so there's potential I could have a few parents calling me.

What should I do? I don't want to put the cart before the horse but I don't want to overcommit myself either.

Thanks!!

Liz - sorry DH is being so frustrating lately :( It would annoy me too if my DH was telling everyone he wants to move without us agreeing on anything first. Hopefully you guys can figure something out.

Christine - I think it's perfectly reasonable to follow up with your boss and ask what the status is of the FT job opportunity. Do they know you are tutoring on the side, or would it be okay if they know? If so, then I would explain the situation to them. If not, then I would try and get an answer from your boss ASAP and explain the situation to potential tutoring clients. I wouldn't take the ad down until you know for sure about the FT job.

Thanks Alyssa. They don't know about my tutoring per se, but we have a very open and honest relationship so I don't think they would be bothered by it. Since I do my work mainly at night and on the weekends, they don't really care what I do during the day. Most of our communication is via email.

I also forgot to add that another reason why I'm anxious to find out about the timing of the job is because our sitter said Selin's spot will probably be open until June. I'd rather not have to go and find another sitter since she's already been with so many different people since I went back to work last August and she loves going to the sitter we have now.
