Ella - Barrett went through a whining stage too when he was about one - he still whimpers from time to time but he has a lot more words so he at least tries to verbalize his wants.

To get in on the diaper talk - Evan also couldn't care less if his diaper is wet, or even poopy! I have a feeling that won't be good when it comes to potty training time, but we'll see. He could change his mind by then ;)

We've been trying BFing and the last few days we've been getting 1-2 really good feeds in! But, then this morning we totally regressed - he was popping on and off the breast the whole time, and whacked or kicked my nipples probably 20 times :P Needless to say, he was still hungry and my nipples killed after we both finally gave up.

I think I have an over supply too, because when I BF and he pops off and seems full (which he is, because he doesn't want to eat for another 2-3 hours), my breasts still feel fullish and I have to pump. Totally defeating the purpose of BFing so I DON'T have to pump :P This whole thing is so frustrating!!

In other news, we have our first appointment with the pediatrician today. That was the one really good thing we got out of the week in the hospital: getting referred to a pediatrician, which is practically impossible to get around here! YAY!

I used those the first few weeks, too - they were great for catching leaking milk - AND, I loved them because they provided a barrier between my nipples and my clothing. At first when my nips were so sore from getting used to BFing, it hurt like HECK to have my clothes rubbing against them (even a soft bra or nursing tank). So those things were a lifesaver! I didn't need to use them after probably 5-6 weeks because my supply evened out and I didn't leak much anymore, and at that point it *finally* didn't hurt to have something rubbing against my nips.

That was a lot of information about my nipples :) LOL. :)

ANYWAY, yeah, I second your recommendation of those things!

Adrienne & Ella - I am going to have to give those a try. At least for at night, Gabby is starting to sleep longer again and I am almost exploding and definitely leaking, so those might help...

Alyssa - I hope the appt went well with the peditirian.

Sarah - I hope that Desmond's appointment goes well today. KUP

Brita - Friends of ours actually have this cooking stool in their kitchen. It's this stool that has sides on it, so they can't fall off of it and it can be dragged around the kitchen so they can help, actually both her kids help her. Problem with that, is their soon is sometimes a little too helpful. He got into the bread machine when she left him alone for 2 seconds and added some water to be "Helpful". He is such a "helpful" kid - bringing in the recycling before it's been taken. He is also a little Houdini....Ahh the stories they have :)

Ella -
