Ash – I had no idea, but I guess that makes sense! I have tried a few more times since then to BF, but no success. Evan will latch on, but keep pulling off. Then he gets frustrated, starts screaming, and so I just give in and give him a bottle. I just keep telling myself that he’s getting breast milk, and we still have lots of cuddle time.

Liz – I know what you mean about it being silly to have to hide in my own house. But, with my MIL, I think it would just be easier and less stressful for me to switch rooms for a few days. At least I’ll get to escape 7-8 times a day ;)

Ella – Yeah, I’m kind of surprised that they want to stay with us. I’m just glad it’s only a few days. I also feel bad because when my parents come to visit (over Christmas) I’ll totally be okay with them staying in the house! LOL! Happy 1st birthday to Eliza!!!

Grace – sorry about the sickness at your house too. I can totally see how you’d be antsy about bringing a new baby into the picture. Hopefully things go smoothly though.

Sandy – glad David is feeling better. Sounds like your week will be pretty busy, so it’s good that everyone is healthy!

Jess – so sorry you had such a crappy day yesterday. That sucks about your SIL, but maybe it just seems like a bigger deal because you were having a crappy day already? If it turns into a pattern though, I’d be pissed, because you clearly were happy to help them out when their DD was a newborn. I hope you hear from your FIL soon about the trip. That kind of thing annoys me too! I wouldn’t worry too much about a Christmas gift for Gabby. Like you said, she won’t remember, so just make/buy something small.

Ruby – sorry things aren’t going so well right now. I can understand how frustrating it must be to be with the baby all day, and then DH just escape to the basement when he’s home in the evenings. That can’t help the feeling of only living for the baby, because it sounds like you’re with him 24/7. At least you still have another 5 months or so before you’re on DH’s income. I have my fingers crossed that you’ll find something by then. And Ugh about the IL stress --- why are ILs so frickin’ annoying?? LOL!

AFM – Evan is more active during the day now. And by “active” I mean screaming his head off :P It’s not all day long or anything, but it’s just such a huge difference from last week, or even a couple days ago. I’m hoping it’s just a growth spurt or some sort of phase, but I’m not really sure.

The nice thing is he is sleeping well at night. Last night we went to bed at 10pm and he didn’t wake up until 3am to eat. Then he slept again until about 7:30am. Yay for getting decent chunks of sleep!

Alyssa - have you thought about having an LC or a local LLL come to your house to check on your latch? The leaders in my LLL group do housecalls, in fact, I brought one of them to my SIL's house the day she came home from the hospital (at her request) because she was having issues and I had already helped her as much as I could. She was so much more relaxed and confident about BFing by the time the leader left. I think she would have thrown in the towel had she not gotten help. Keep up the great work, mama! :-)

Alyssa I only have a second but the first thing that popped out at me, is perhaps Evan is just impatient waiting for your milk to start to flow?

Babies have to suck for a little bit before the real flow of milk starts and some get really impatient and frustrated when it doesn't happen right away. One thing you can do is pump /express with the hand for a minute or 2 to get your milk flowing and then have Evan latch on- that might help until he gets a bit more patient:)

I know Teddy does the same thing now and he just gets frustrated for a minute or 2 and then calms down and drinks well as soon as the milk starts flowing- he didn't start doing this until a few months ago thankfully- but then again I also never got anything close to such a long chunk of sleep as you are getting until months in! I'm jealous :D

Christine - I have been in contact with the local LLL group, and they have offered to do a home visit. I also can call a public health nurse to do a visit as well. Right now I'm just seeing how things go, but I'll definitely keep these options in mind.

Ash - I think this is part of it, so I've been doing compressions before trying to latch him on. Sometimes it works. The last few times I've tried BFing though, he's been crying already - so trying to do anything with him like that is a no go!

Elyse - that's so exciting about William's vocabulary! That must be such a fun time :) Sounds like coaching gymnastics will be a lot better for you right now than teaching, especially if you're not enjoying it anymore.

Ruby, sorry things are so rough right now. I kinda understand the whole job thing. While I have a job I really would like another one that would be better for our family but there isn't much of an option right now.

Hi all. I'm being bad and not really doing personals right now, mainly because I am feeling lazy and hate the boards.

Things are going great here.

Thank you for the sig Mary

Sarah- Sounds like you guys have a lot going on. Those pictures are so cute!! I haven't figured out what we are doing for our christmas pictures, but I am sure I will figure it out. Probably get it taken after we get the tree up after Thanksgiving. I am taking the day off after Thanksgiving weekend, so I can get stuff set up then.

Question for you ladies - Gabby is 3 months on Wednesday (I can't believe she is already 3 months old) and for a few weeks (actually almost all of October) she was STTN.

Alyssa,

Yay for great sleep stretches! I remember feeling like a new woman when that happened. Glad the pumping is going well for you!
