baby's weight angst (huh?)

So, who would have thought that my crazy-growing little boy would end up having weight issues? He just had his 9-month appointment and he's still at 99th percentile for height, but he fell off the 90th weight percentile curve all the way down to 50th! Of course, babies' growth falls off when they start crawling an all of that, but this is more than that. It's probably related to him being sick for most of this winter (he just had his second ear infection/drum rupture) and not having a great appetite. But now I'm all stressed about this.
The doctor isn't particularly concerned, but we are coming in for a weight check again in a month. In order to reach triple his birth weight by one year, he'll need to gain over 3.5lbs in 3 months.
For reference, he was born at 8lb,9oz, went to 11lb,5oz(1mo), 14lb1oz(2mo), 18lb(4mo), 20lb(6mo) and now is at 20lb10oz. Only 10 ounces in 3 months!
Anyway, now I'm feeling badly about having been slow to introduce solids. We have been BFing on demand all along. He's otherwise great and healthy all around. But, I guess it's time to work on bulking him up! I nursed him for longer than usual this morning, and he's going to get 2 "meals" + 2 snacks today. I'll be interested to see how that affects how many bottles he takes at daycare.
I'm sure everything will be fine, but would be happy to hear any advice on how to approach this situation.
