Blood Blister?

So, I think I've developed a small blood blister on my left nipple. It doesn't hurt a ton, but it is painful sometimes, especially right after I pump.
Has anyone else experienced this? Should I try to do something, or just see if it heals on its own?
I swear, it's been one thing after another with this whole BFing/EPing business! I'm getting to the point where I'm not sure if it's worth the time and physical pain anymore.
I think I might have had one of these in the early days of BFing--but I think I described it mentally as a herniated duct--like the end of the duct is red, bleeding, scabby?
Mine went away within a week or so, so hopefully you heal soon.
Anyway, the blister seems to be healing now, but my nipple still hurts when I pump (and when I'm not pumping!). Like you said, it is REALLY weird that I'm starting to have these problems now, at 12 weeks PP. I totally don't mind pumping if it doesn't hurt, but having physical pain now makes it 10000 times worse!
I am thinking of starting to make the transition to formula. This whole thing is just too much. And, like you said, it's not all or nothing. Even if he's still getting 1-2 feeds of BM a day, that's really good for him. I'm going to see how my nipples feel in the next couple of days and go from there.

First, about the blister: I had one of those when Fede was 3 months old, so I'd say it's perfectly normal to have "issues" even after BF is well established.
Second, about formula: I agree with Adrienne, you've given him a wonderful start. I seriously don't think I could have EP for so long! If it is really bugging you, I think you should transition him... NO GUILTS!!!
Just a thought though... I'm no expert, so correct me if I'm wrong. I've heard that pumping doesn't stimulate supply as good as a baby's mouth, so if you decide to pump for only 1 or 2 feedings a day, you may loose your supply quickly. I would pump and freeze a small stash so you can keep offering BM for a little longer. And then go on and start cutting back pumping sessions.
You're right in that pumping doesn't stimulate as good as a baby (with a proper latch and sucking technique) would. But, at the 12-week point, supply is established, so dropping a pump *shouldn't* change the supply too much. I have been doing 5 pumps a day for the last month or so and am ahead of Evan's demand. So, this weekend I went down to 4 pumps. So far so good - I'm still producing the same amount. I will have to make my way down to 1-2 pumps a day so that I don't get clogs or worse, but I hope to get to 6 months before I'm totally done. We'll see how it goes though. It's certainly a lot easier when I'm pumping less and my nipples don't kill me! LOL!

Sounds like you are doing better since you posted this. So I am glad it's healing and I agree with Mari & Adrienne you have done a GREAT JOb!! I sometimes wonder if I can keep doing the pumping thing and like I said on your blog (at least I thought I did) I only pump 3 to 4 times a day and I hate it so I can't imagine doing what you are doing. I agree with Mari though if you can put away some of your milk (Which it sounds like you are) so you have a stash.
GL Girl! You are doing a great job!
