For people who went into labor on their own . . .

What was your first indication that you were in early labor or that labor might start soon? What day/time was it then?

How long was it before you had more regular contractions and would have considered yourself in "active labor"? What day/time was it then?

How long was it before you were in transition/getting ready to push?

Bloody show in the morning with contractions starting in the PM around 6ish. At first they were OK to just keep doing what I was doing so I was seriously in denial that labor had started but then they got very intense and I was in active labor.

I was in active labor by about 8pm.

Friday evening after dinner, I noticed I had contractions AND cramps at the same time. Previously, I'd had either BH contrax without pain, or painful cramps, but never both at the same time. I thought this *might* be it.

I woke up at 1am that night (Friday to Saturday) and felt a contraction; this time I was sure it was a real contraction. I could still breathe through them and decided to try and sleep. This only half worked as the contrax became more and more painful. At 3am, I got up and went to the loo and had a bloody show. I went back to bed but couldn't sleep anymore as the cx were every 7 minutes on the dot and more and more painful.

My water broke around 6:30am, this was the only sign that I was in labor.

I started having contractions about 45 minutes later, I wouldn't consider it active labor (when they became regular) until around noon.

What was your first indication that you were in early labor or that labor might start soon? What day/time was it then? My water broke at 4:30 pm.

How long was it before you had more regular contractions and would have considered yourself in "active labor"? What day/time was it then? Contractions started within minutes of my water breaking. Just crampy at first and progressively stronger after that. They were a few minutes apart from the beginning.

Adrienne - I thought I would answer you even though I didn't really go into labor on my own.

What was your first indication that you were in early labor or that labor might start soon? What day/time was it then? Not sure if you remember, but I was set to be induced the morning of the 17th and I went in the night before. they gave me the ripening pill, but at that time I was already a centemeter dilated, so I have a feeling it wouldn't have been long after that.

How long was it before you had more regular contractions and would have considered yourself in "active labor"? What day/time was it then?

After the ripening pill they gave me (around 8:00 pm on 8/16) I was in Active labor starting around 3:00 am with contractions that I could breathe through but definitely noticed.

How long was it before you were in transition/getting ready to push?

I was having contractions like that until about 8:00am. Then they started to get stronger. I was doing that until 12:00pm on 8/17

How long was your pushing stage?

My pushing stage was only 28 minutes or so. I had Gabby by 12:28pm on 8/17. I know my midwife said that I was pushing her too fast, but at that point there was a lot of pressure so I wanted to get her out ;)

What day/time was the baby actually born?

See above
