BTDT: How Long was Labor?

For people who went into labor on their own . . .
What was your first indication that you were in early labor or that labor might start soon? What day/time was it then?
How long was it before you had more regular contractions and would have considered yourself in "active labor"? What day/time was it then?
How long was it before you were in transition/getting ready to push?

Getting in on this late, but here goes!
What was your first indication that you were in early labor or that labor might start soon? What day/time was it then? I had absolutely no warning whatsoever. My FF EDD was June 8, and my "official" EDD was June 14.

My mom's labor with my (older) sister was long, and they even gave her pitocin to move things along.
My doctor told me that I probably shouldn't waste any time getting to the hospital next time, with a 6.5 hour labor, 1.5 hours of which I was pushing. I can't imagine a labor as short as your's was!
Yeah, I don't think I would trade mine for a longer labor. I got over the shock! :smileywink: I am a little worried for number two though, since the second usually goes quicker. Yikes!
Oh I don't doubt that having a fast labor is very, very intense and not at all easy!! My midwives also told me that quick labors can be pretty stressful which I can completely understand.
But if it is between 4-6 super intense difficult hours or 26 hours 20+ of which were really intense and hard and 6 of which were super low key- I would still prefer the quick to the long:)
While I certainly won't complain about being done quickly, I will also agree with Alyssa and her midwives! My doula (who didn't make it to the delivery) told me exactly the same thing--people will say how lucky you are, but it really is a shock to the system to go that fast!

I'm a bit late on this, but thought I'd chime in.
What was your first indication that you were in early labor or that labor might start soon? What day/time was it then? My water broke at about 2pm. I actually didn't know if it was my water breaking, but (TMI alert) after sitting on the toilet leaking (not being able to stop it) for a while, I figured it wasn't urine!
How long was it before you had more regular contractions and would have considered yourself in "active labor"? What day/time was it then? About 30 minutes later I was having regular contractions about 3-4 minutes apart.
How long was it before you were in transition/getting ready to push? Once we got to the hospital, they checked my cervix and it was 8 cm dilated. I *think* that was at about 4pm. We then moved into the delivery room.
How long was your pushing stage? I seriously don't remember, since my labour was so quick and everything was a blur. I do remember the midwives asking if I felt the need to push, and we had been in the delivery room for a bit before I actually felt ready.

Dude, I know!! You'll probably be fine...everyone at the hospital was in shock at the speed and they kept telling me I was extremely rare for a first-time mom. Hopefully everyone gets there for you!
