If we drive to the inlaws for the day, we'll take the pack n play.

We use the bed, but we co-sleep. That being said, my Mom and Mother in Law both have a pack and play that we use if needed when we visit them. Pack and Plays are fairly cheep for the basic model, and my Mom actually got her's from a work friend who didn't need them anymore. I really won't want to fly with a pack and play so having my Mom just buy one for down there worked out great. We do occasionally take along our pack and play when we drive somewhere as it gives us a known safe spot to put Eloise. A lot of hotels actually have pack and plays, but I would call ahead and check on that one before trusting that the hotel would have one.

We have taken the PNP to my in-laws (drove there) and to my grandma's (flew there.) It had to be checked as luggage, and is a bit bulky to carry through the airport because it doesn't have wheels like most luggage does. Both my in-laws and my grandma don't have a PNP of their own, so it was a must to bring it for him to sleep in. If we ever did go somewhere where we were staying in a hotel, I'd use the one they provide if that was available... one less thing to haul on the trip.

We have a pack n play and have traveled all over with it. My parents have one at their house so that we don't need to take one there. We have flown with it. We have a bag for it that has wheels, I got it at TJ Maxx. DH complained when I bought it, but then realized how wonderful it was during our first trip. I don't want to use cribs or pack and plays from hotels because I don't know the condition that they are in. Plus my son has horrible skin allergies and is allergic to the world, so knowing he's in our products rules out one more thing he'll react to.

We have used the heck out of our PNP!! But that being said, we don't really fly. The one time we took McKenna on an airplane when she was a baby, we just got a crib at the hotel we were staying at. We do a lot of travel in the car though and use the PNP everywhere we go, the IL's, camping, etc. I think they are a really nice thing to have. But if you are traveling primarily by airplane when you go places, I would probably say get the smaller one you mentioned. A PNP would be a pain to carry around the airport.

Hey guys...

I just saw this thread and it made me think about an episode of Shark Tank (that TV show where people with business ideas ask business sharks for investment $$) Anyway, this lady was on pitching her company (Cover Play) which makes PNP slipcovers and the sharks made her an offer. I googled the company and saw that she's now in Target, Amazon, etc. with her PNP slip covers. Might be a good idea for having one to take with you if you use a hotel PNP and are worried about allergies or cleanliness, or just want to be able to keep your own at home cleaner easier (throw it in the wash). I thought it was a kinda neat idea...

I used our pack-n-play the most when my boys were newborns, we kept it set up in the family room and that's were they would sleep during the day.
