Her daughter was born spring 2010 we have never met her and she never met David. Anyway... Dh is a little better but still having coughing fits. Will be better once his fever goes away. The doc said Mon or Tues.

Hi Everybody,

No time for personals but I have been reading.

Maxim has been sick since Monday. We woke up at 4am to him covered in vomit (sorry for the TMI), so DH stayed home with him but he was acting pretty normal...same thing on Tuesday...one vomiting spell followed by a good day. Wednesday we sent him to daycare and they said he was low energy all day. He wouldnt eat or drink anything and we were concerned so we went to ER. He vomited again there. The doc said it was just a bad cold/cough and that the vomiting spells were because of his cough. Ok fine, we can buy that because we saw it happen at the ER. So now every time he has a major cough spell, he's vomiting. I've cleaned up this at least once or twice a day since Monday and we're all so sick of it. Poor baby! I've tried spoon of honey, tylenol, vaporizer in his room, vicks on his feet, camilia drops, pumping him full of liquids which he is super fussy about...I wish I could give him cough syrup but I know its a no-no. So tonight I called my Grandma and she said to try a mustard pack. So I'm going to make one tomorrow morning and see if that helps. Its an old old remedy my great-grandma used and apparently it works like a charm. At this point I just want him to stop coughing so he stops vomiting...ugh I feel so badly for him and I cant handle it anymore!! :(

Ruby,

Poor Maxim and poor Mere and Pere!

Hope Grandma's remedy does the trick! What the heck is a mustard pack anyway? :-)

Thanks Christine and Kate!

Apparently its dried mustard, flour, vinegar, and egg whites...its a paste and you put it on a cotton fabric like an old towel and put it on the chest. It gets very hot so one has to be careful not to blister the skin but the combination of heat and mustard loosens up respiratory issues and improves congestion, cough and all things associated with that sort of illness. My great-grandma did it all the time I guess and My aunt swears by it. Her daughter needed heart surgery and she had this cough that wouldnt go away for weeks but the docs wouldnt operate with her having this cough..even with 2 z-packs and other stuff the doc gave her, it wouldnt give off. Finally it was 2 days before her surgery and they did a mustard pack...cleared it right up and her doc was amazed they were able to get rid of it. If you want the exact measurements sometime, I have them written down.

Ruby that sounds awful:( Do you guys have homeopathic cough syrup in Canada? That is what Teddy gets- recommended from our doctor- it is totally safe for all ages and it really helps. The one we use is called Monapax but that might be something you can only get in Germany. Hang in there!

Ruby - so sorry about the vomiting thing! I can't STAND cleaning it up (or seeing Evan do it for that matter). I have a bit of a phobia of it, and last time it happened, DH wasn't around, and I was sobbing as I was cleaning the floor and Evan. I'm an AWESOME mom :P Anyway, I hope the mustard pack works and gives both you and Maxim some relief!

Ash - HPT!!!!!???? Congrats!!

Cassie - sorry about Simon not sleeping well. Hopefully things will turn around tonight.

Jess - sorry about AF. She can be such a cow! Fingers crossed next cycle is the lucky one!

AFM - this is my favorite stage yet! Though, every stage has been my favorite when we're in it. I just love how playful, thoughtful, funny, serious, talkative, and just plain cute Evan is right now. He has a few words (mama, dada/daddy, hi, no) that he uses - most of the time in context - and a lot of specific sounds he uses for certain words. It's amazing to watch him learn how to communicate!
