Andi, I know how hard it is not to worry about stuff related to our babies' health (read my crazy posts about Strept B!). But so far Elia doesn't sound like she has CP... I'm sure she is just fine. As they said, she has good muscle tone, and she is using her hands properly... I'm sure this is harder for you because having two babies the same age, you keep comparing them and their progress. As for the eczema... Fede had it, and he turned out to have what they call "atopic dermatitis". Which basically means he has super sensitive skin. Anyways, it isn't so bad. What worked better than any lotion was to stop using regular baby soap, perfume and lotions and switch to hypoallergenic brands. And most specially bathing him in the big tub, so the proportion of soap vs. water was minimal and making sure we rinsed him with clear water in the end. That alone took care of most of it and he rarely had eczemas since then. But soaps and such are not the only cause. In Fede's case, he reacts badly to acidic fruits (tomato, orange, plum, etc) so I need to remember to wash his face after he eats that kind of food... Every kid with sensitive skin has different "triggers", so watch patiently, and once you identify them, try to avoid it as much as possible.

Andi I use a hazelwood necklace, almost completely eliminated dairy, and use Aveenos eczema soap and lotion. Bathe every other day and add lotiion before dry. And I bet nothing is wrong with her. Dust it off

Andi - our doc recommended eucerin, cetaphil or aquaphor (we got sent home with a sample of eucerin & cetaphil)

Andi- IDK, but I would try not to take the comment seriously. They might even have to make that "disclaimer" just in case. I completely empathize with the worrying about comments though. Hugs!

Update on Elia's PT appt: (and sad woe-is-me rant)

So Elia's appt in general went well. The physical therapist was happy with her standing, sitting, and rolling over, and as I expected wants to see her again in six weeks to ensure progress is continuing. One thing really bothered me though... an Occupational Therapist came in at one point to offer advice on Elia's hand skills (which to be honest, I don't think she needs, she reaches, grabs, and feeds herself with the best of them). The OT made an almost offhanded comment about how OTs and PTs don't diagnose, they just work with the symptoms and it's just been eating at me ever since we left. I don't know if I interpreted her statement wrong, but I felt like she was suggesting Elia should be evaluated and/or diagnosed with something (of course, of course, my horrible brain worries about cerebral palsy. how could it not? She has practically all the risk factors you guys, she was born early, needed breathing assistance, was a twin, I was on magnesium sulfate and had preeclampsia... they are all risk factors). I usually am able to not let it bother me, even if she has CP I think it would be pretty mild considering the progress and strength she has already (and the PT flat out said she has fine muscle tone, is neither too floppy or too tight). I dunno, it's just when I start thinking about it, it really tears me up. Good thing the girls are both taking a nap now, I need a good cry.

How did I get so behind!?!? Just a couple of personals

Ash - a getaway day just for you!? That sounds fabulous! I want to do that!!!! lol. I'm a huge kindle fan too. I use the kindle app on my phone even so I always have a book to read if I'm waiting at the dr office or standing in a long line.

Sandy - sorry about the yeast infection. No fun. And I'm not sure if I said a YAY for you getting to TTC sooner than expected. So... YAY!

Ash...I already have that book however I am taking a class through our church as well. I think it will be very useful. Of course I have to wait on my infection to clear before I can do anything.

Sandy: I'm not religious but Taking Charge of Your Fertility is a great book for a reference if you want to try the fertility awareness method of birth control (e.g. temping, charting, checking CM,etc). If used correctly it can be very effective.

Sarah- I think I would go crazy without my kindle!I still end up buying some paperbacks which haven't been released as ebooks yet but otherwise I LOVE reading a review for a book which sounds interesting, buying it, and reading it 30 seconds later.

AFM: I'm going to a wellness and gourmet hotel tonight for a night alone. I've wanted to do this since Teddy was born and now it fit so I am. Some friends and I are thinking about going there for a wellness weekend or day so I am partially using that as an excuse to test it out, but mainly I am just looking forward to reading my book, eating a nice 3 course meal while reading my book, going for a swim and in the sauna, going to sleep and sleeping in , and then enjoying a nice leisurely breakfast by myself!!
It is funny I have never done something like this before and I am kind of nervous but I think I am really going to enjoy myself. I mean it isn't like I don't get breaks, we go out a lot and have babysitters, or I go out with friends, or when we visit my mom etc but still to do something nice just for myself will be something special.
