first period after baby?

Was your first period after having a baby (particularly while breastfeeding) lighter, heavier, shorter, longer, etc.?
I remember it being sort of heavy but not regular for awhile. What have your experiences been?

In my case it was only a little heavier, but it was reeeeally irregular.
I just had my first child, a boy, in December. It took 8 1/2 weeks to get my first period and it seemed like a normal period (5 days). Then, I got my 2nd period 3 weeks after the last one so a week early) and it was only medium flow and then I spotted for a couple of days. I thought I may have been pregnant again (after having a baby 3 months ago) because I had ovulated 2 weeks after the first period and the had the unusual bleeding, but I took a HPT and it was negative. I had no idea that your periods are whacky after having a baby. I just assumed it would go back to normal after not bleeding for 10 months. Needless to say, DH and I are being a lot more careful now... we don't want another baby until Ricky is 2-3 years old.
