At almost 41 weeks I gave birth to my beautiful baby girl this afteroon at 12:28pm. She weighed in at 7lbs 7 oz and is 19 1/2 inches long.

They admitted us at 7 pm last night and by 7:30 I was on the fetal monitors for about a half hour. They then gave me a cervix ripening pill called cyotec. I was in bed for an hour and just starting to feel some
contractions. When the nurse checked me I was dilated to about a 1. Dh and I walked around for awhile and played cribbage. At 11:30 they hooked me back up to the monitors and checked me again and I was dilated to 4cm. Because of that they decided no to give me the 2nd dose and let me progress on my own. They did give me some morphine and a sleeping pill at midnight. I tried to sleep but didn't get much because the contractions were starting to pick up. At 3am I thought I was going to throw up (didn't). They checked me again and I was at 5 to 6 cm. Around 5 am I labored in the tub for a good hour and a half.

By 7 am the contractions where picking up in strength. I hated being in the bed it made the contractions worse. I wanted to walk around but instead went on the ball. MW arrived and checked me and I was around a 7 to 8 so we decided to forgo the Pitocin and just let labor progress.

By this time I was on insulin for my GD, and the pencillian for my group B strep, it was a lot of lines. So it made moving around a lot harder. I also decided that I couldn't handle the contractions anymore and neede a break. She checked me and I was an 8 to 9. So she gave me a dose of fentanayl (sp?) an that helped it didn't take the pain complelty away but was enough so I could sleep a little an rest up. They were getting worse around 11 and I needed another dose plus they gave me some pitocin to get the contractions closer together. They were pretty bad but by noon I was ready to push. It was the hardest thisng I have done in my life but a short 30 minutes late she was out.

And it was the most amazing experience I have been through. To imagine that this little person lived within me for 9 months is crazy!!!! she is the most amazin little person I know and I truly in love with her.

we had a good first go at breast feeding at 3 today but our next feeding took a but of work and we will see how it goes here in 20 minutes. I will upload pictures when we get home on Thursday.

Jess - thank you for sharing your story! It sounds like you and she just needed a little push to get labor started. I'm glad the birth went well, and she is SUCH a cutie (saw her pic on FB). Welcome to the world, little Gabriella!! (LOVE the name!)

Thanks ladies it's been over 24 hours now and it's amazing that I a mom. But dh and I are fitting into things pretty well so far. He was up with her in the middle of the night when she decided to be awake and is helping me keep her awake during the feedings.

We struggled a bit last night with the BF but after meeting with the lactation consultant this morning we are starting to figure it out. Things are just a bit sensitive and sometimes she is eating every hour so it's only a 1/2 hour break as it takes her a good 1/2 hour.

Icant to bring her home and have her there. The hospital is super nice but it will be nice to be in our own bed.
