HELP! food ideas

Hi girls, I need ideas on baby food. Fede is proving to be an extremely picky eater, and rejects half of the stuff I've tried to give him!! I'm going nuts!!!
So far, he likes cereals, fruits, cheese, yogurt, but hates pumpkin, yams, potatoes and well, every veggie I've tried to give him. He seems to like meat, rice and noodles, but he can't handle the textures. So he "sucks" the juice and taste of them and then spits the remains LOL!
Any tricks or ideas will be appreciated!

How are you preparing the vegatables?

I was actually thinking the same thing, but with breastmilk--that is really sweet--maybe if you mixed some milk in with the veggies he would like them better.

It could be the textures. Elena wouldn't touch anything remotely chunky until she was at least 11 months old. She seemed to love almost everything pureed though. If it's strictly a taste thing though - which it doesn't seem to be since he does suck on them - you could try mixing it with fruit. I'd just try straight purees first though!

Mari, I've read that you should offer him a food as many times as it takes for him to eat it. Sometimes he just might need to get familiar with it. I remember reading that it can take up to ten tries for them to try a new food and like it.

Honestly your list of foods that he likes is long enough that I wouldn't worry at this point. I think food/solids should really be a stress free event if possible, and before one years of age it just isn't necessary for them to be having well balanced meals.

That being said if he likes the meat rice and noodles, I would just puree them until he is ready for the new texture:)

Adrienne and Melissa- Thanks! I'll try to mix something sweet. I'm not a fan of the mixes, so the idea never crossed my mind!

You know Kelly? It might be it! He does seem weirded out about different textures!

Well, I really want to BF until he is one. I just wanted to make sure that he accepts a wide range of foods before I wean him
But you're probably right, and I should make this something more stress free.
