Yes, our son goes to a sitter/daycare while I'm at work. I call her a sitter as she is an in home daycare and only watches two other kids. I found her on craigs list. I also found our previous one before her there as well. If you don't feel comfortable there is care.com but they charge I think its $30.00 a month but you can cancel at anytime. I usually do a month membership and cancel. There you can do background checks ect. Not sure if you go to church but you could also check if you do the youth group and see if there are teens who are willing to babysit. Those are all the ideas I have.

I feel ya on this one, Carly! We have no family nearby and it's tough. We found our nanny through a friend's nanny though, so that's no help. Um, join a moms group just long enough to get recommendations? Lol. Any neighbors with kids you could ask? I've heard of people using craigslist too. You could buy a leash when you take Tad to the bridal salon maybe??? ;) okay, clearly I have no good ideas!! Best of luck!

Selin goes to an in home daycare that came highly recommended through my neighborhood moms group. I found that group through meetup.com. I also belong to a LLL group.

OMG andi...about the leash...i actually have one, lol. how terrible is that? i've never used it though. i'm sooooooo nervous about him running off in crowded places. he HATES holding hands and has a tendency to just take off in any direction when put down. i bought the leash (it's this adorable little cow backpack with a 5' tether made of the same fabric that clips on) last spring when i thought i'd be going to a craft fair without a stroller and then wound up not going, but i still have it for possible use at county fairs and airports, lol. wouldn't work so well for a dress fitting though. ;)

sandy - i have looked at sittercity.com...what's available for free anyway. you can't do the background checks or anything without a membership, which is $40. ouch. even just one month feels like a lot.

christine - i might have to check out local mom's groups. when i finally get a job (FX it happens soon) he'll be in a regular daycare, but we'll still need a off-hours sitter for the odd night out i'm determined to make for us once in a while. tad's awesome and i love him to bits, but all tad all the time with no breaks is a bit draining, lol.

Yea those memberships suck. Wish there was an easier way.
