I know after I had my oldest, there were things that I wish someone would have told me about giving birth and being a mom before it actually happened.

That you can do everything "right" - no epidural, changing positions during labor, etc. - and you still might end up with a c-section. But that's alright because in the end you will still have your baby.

That my feet would swell up larger than I could imagine, and they wouldn't go back to their normal size until more than a week after giving birth.

About Pregnancy:

-That morning sickness are not funny... they are not like a regular "upset stomach" either. IT'S HELL ON EARTH!

-That besides nausea, your digestive system will act like you are 80... burping, gas, slow digestion... the whole combo!!!

-That you won't be able to trust your emotional reactions anymore.

-That some women rejoice in telling you horror stories about pregnancy and delivery.

- Epidurals are a god send and there's absolutely nothing wrong with doing labor "pain free".

I wish someone would have told me... about birth -

That it's not the end of the world if you make changes in your birth plan, there is very little you can plan or control about birth, and it's good to go with the flow. I was so obsessed with not getting an epidural, and in the end, I am so glad I did.

That the recovery is gross and terrible. Somehow I did not realize how much bleeding there would be, and how swollen and sore everything down there would be.

That sometimes no matter how careful you are about what you eat, and how much you exercise, you end up with a 9.5 lb baby, and you are just huge and uncomfortable.

That after your due date, everyone's questions get like 10 times more annoying, and you just have to ignore them and be happy with the decisions you've made. (people seem to think it's some sort of crime to be out and and about after your due date, they all want to know why your not in a hospital bed someplace getting induced)

There is no "normal" pregnancy, everyone is different, and you won't look like, or have the same symptoms as, every other pregnant woman.

Morning sickness is not always in the morning, as a matter of fact, mine consistently started up after 4pm.
