Hugs Alyssa!

Maxim is the EXACT same way...very cautious, very analytical, he's always been our little thinker.

Alyssa - ((hugs)) BTDT it sucks... but really try to not let people get to you... as with anything related to parenting related someone is going to make you feel bad about something you shouldn't feel bad about. And really what is it their business? Hang in there, Evan will walk when he's ready... and being cautious can be a good thing. Ray was a very late walker, and he's always been cautius about physical feats... which is nice because I never had to worry about him climbing too high, jumping off things he shoudn't, etc.

Andi - Your new siggy is SO adorable! The girls are getting some nice coloring, aren't they? :-)

Alyssa - I know you've gotten a ton of walking advice already but just wanted to add that my friend's DD didn't walk until 16 months so there is definitely a wide range of first steps. Selin took hers two weeks after her 1st birthday but she's been so behind on teeth and didn't get her first two until then!

Waving *HI* to everyone else! I've been reading all the posts but just can't keep up with all the personals.

AFM - Selin has been telling us when she has to poop (most of the time) and has pooped on the potty quite a few times now! I am so shocked, I always thought they tend to pee on the potty first but hey, I'll take what I can get! We bought the same toilet ring for my parents house and she pooped there today, too. Now if we could just get her to tell us when she has to pee...lol. We're not pushing it though as she's not even two yet and I don't want her to regress. We've also had to resort to footie one-piece pj's lately as when we put her in two-piece pj's, she takes her diaper off and pees in her crib. :-/

We're having her 2nd birthday party in a few weeks at a small banquet hall through our park district. Our guest list including adults and kids is close to 60 people but I don't expect everyone to show, especially if the weather is iffy. It's a very large space (my BIL and SIL had their wedding reception there and our nephew's 1st bday party there last fall) and we're quite familiar with it already which is nice. My DH is flying overseas next week and won't be back until 5 days before the party so I'm slightly freaking out but he's assured me that everything will go smoothly. Once I have a head count then I can make party favor bags for the kids, other than that I just have to buy decorations and order the cake. Easy, right? ;-)

Alyssa- Like so many people have mentioned there are real advantages to having a cautious baby and you really aren't missing out not having a child who willing takes risks which could often break his neck and then laughs about it LOL. Plus this whole comparing stuff at this age is so silly. Seriously every child without some sort of disability learns to walk and talk, end of story. He'll get there and there is an average range to start walking- he isn't even "late" yet. Hang in there!

Kate- Congratulations on Teddy starting to crawl- that is awesome!!! Is he getting into lots more trouble yet? LOL

Christine- I'm so impressed with your birthday plans. As of now we have nothing planned for Teddy's birthday. We are going on vacation for a week and come back the day before his birthday and will probably just give him a cupcake and a gift on the day. I'm still undecided if we will invite a few friends over on the weekend... as of now I am leaning towards no LOL. He still doesn't get it and neither of us are really big toddler birthday people. We'll see how the weather is though.

AFM:We got snow here finally (which I actually hate) but anyway we got a baby slide for Teddy which he can sit in really well and he loved it!

He is also SUCH a daddy's boy it is insane. Weekends are his favorite time because he can just spend the whole day with DH. He totally emulates him and I think it is so adorable. He follows him around everywhere :D That is why I can post this right now LOL!!

Thanks for the support, everyone! I know he'll walk on his own terms when he's ready, but it's so hard just knowing he can do it but he just won't! LOL! It's interesting that he's SO cautious when he's learning something, but once he starts doing it he turns into a risk taker...like he LOVES climbing on things, or even trying to climb out of his high chair.

Another thing is I really want him to be a bit less like a baby before we even contemplate having another child. I'd like him to be a bit more independent and be able to communicate with us better, because there's no way I'm dealing with two like that! LOL!

Christine - that's awesome about Selin pooping in the toilet! And wow on the birthday party! That's more guests than I had at my wedding, so I can see how you'd be a bit stressed about it. I'm sure it will go really well though.

Ash - that's so cute about Teddy being a Daddy's boy, AND how that allows you some free time :)

Thanks Ash. The only reason we're having a big party is because we weren't able to for her 1st so we're trying to make up for it. With it being winter and the size of our house (and only one bathroom) we couldn't comfortably entertain even just both sides of our immediate families.

I already told DH we won't be having this big a fete every year. ;-)

Wow...I go away for a weekend and come back to so many posts.

I went on a women's retreat this weekend. For those of you who aren't Catholic, it's Christ Renews His Parish which is a women's retreat at our church.

Christine- Congratulations on Selin's potty progress!!!! ANd I'm also impressed about your birthday plans... I hope it turns out to be an awesome party!

Alyssa- ((hugs!)) Fede didn't walk until he was 1 year and 4 months old!! I totally understand your feelings about explaining stuff to people. Even though they only ask out of love (or simply trying to be polite), they manage to make you feel like your child has some sort of problem. To be honest, I think it is "us", the moms who are worried about it deep down and so we are super sensitive about such things... personally I am trying to become more confident as a mother and not doubt so much my child's progress and my own abilities as a mom.

OOps! I forgot the AFM part!

I am doing fine, although I am beggining to feel tired of being pregnant... I am 32 weeks now, and things are getting really uncomfortable... But... I still need to keep baking this little one for a while, so no sense in complaining!! Next thursday I have an u/s, and I hope I can find out the sex. But more important, I hope s/he is still head down!!

Fede is making some unthinkable progress lately... He finally acknowledges that there is a baby inside me (or whatever he understands of that concept). And now kisses my belly and says baby pointing at it.

Ash: Teddy is very much like his older brother... the type of boy that doesn't get into everything at his age... and if he follows his brother's path he'll be taking apart toasters when he's 3. Ha!!!
