That sucks that the pictures didn't turn out well, Kate. We've had really good luck with Sears.

Kate - that's a bummer that the pictures didn't turn out. I'm surprised they couldn't figure that out at the photoshoot, being in the digital age and all! Hopefully you'll get some nicer ones with the other studio.

AFM - Evan is going through some serious separation anxiety right now. He starts crying if I even stand up to move across the room. How long does this phase last?? LOL!

The separation anxiety lasted for months with us! From about 8/9 months at least until 16/17ish months. It was brutal. I couldn't even go to the bathroom without her wailing. DH used to tell me to just sneak off when she wasn't looking but that is probably the worst thing you can do! Way to make her not trust me at all. :smileysurprised: I always told her what I was doing and that I'd be back, and basically only left the room if I absolutely had to. Even cooking was difficult - even though she could still see me in the kitchen she knew she couldn't get to me because of the gate. It was so nice when she got over it.... altough she still has it to some degree. She hates when I leave for work still, and still ocasionally cries if I go to the bathroom, but only for a few seconds. It's not that she is insecure or anything - if I take her to a play area or something she is GONE, she barely even looks for me to make sure I'm still there. Go figure.

OMG Kelly, your description of Elena's separation anxiety is EXACTLY like Eliza - word for word, I could have written this! And when it's really bad Eliza not only wants to be in the same room as me but must be held by me at all times (especially when she's tired), so cooking has become quite the challenge. She even screams when DH tries to take her sometimes.

So, yeah, Alyssa you may have a while before the separation anxiety subsides... but then again, all babies are different - I have a friend whose little boy never ever had a day of it in his life!

All this talk of kids' photos makes me want to get Eliza's photo taken professionally! Actually, I'd really love to have a professional photo taken of the three of us, since I am hardly ever in the photos, and when I am, they aren't very good ones...

Speaking of photos, I just made a photo book on Shutterfly for my MIL for her birthday, and it took me all day yesterday, but it is going to be so so cute! I know she'll love it. I'm excited to see it, too :) It has like 50 pages in it! I never make those books for myself, I always give them as gifts... but they are so neat, I really should make one for each year of E's life... anyway, I really hope it gets here before we see her next weekend!!

AFM - we are going to a funeral this morning of a close family friend who died of brain cancer. She was only diagnosed like a year ago. It is so so sad - she had three young grandchildren and was only 61. It freaks me out... I don't know what I'd do if my mom or dad died right now... Eliza loves them so much, and they are such an important part of my life. F%@$ cancer!!!

Alyssa, I don't want to depress you, but for some babies, it's still going on at 17 months!! (it goes up and down of course). My advice would be, to make him know when you are leaving, like a proper goodbye, so he can identify those moments and link them with your return. If you are at home and he cries when you go out of sight, keep talking to him until you come back.

LOL Kelly and Ella, Fede is just the same!!! I have to confess something. Sometimes, when I have to use the bathroom I put Fede inside the (empty) tub, so he can see me and still be "under control" while I do my bussiness... The alternative is Fede kicking the door in a full blown tantrum, and that can't help you in that situation!!
