Cassie,

My DH is mostly worried about how Selin is going to do without us for her first overnight. She STTN at home but when she and I stay at my parents house she won't STTN but I think it's because I'm in the room with her and she can smell me, or something like that.

I think she'll be just fine and I would like for her to get use to sleepovers at "Grandma & Grandpa's" so that DH and I can have a night to ourselves more often. My ILs won't watch her for more than a few hours (and I would be totally worried about them watching her overnight) and my parents weren't comfortable taking her for an overnight until now so hence the reason it's taken us so long.

I would also like to go to Vegas with DH before baby #2 comes along (we used to go 1-2x/year before baby) but I think that one is going to take some major convincing on my DHs part. ;-)

Crib Discussion: We have about 4 stuffed animals in her crib. One is her musical seahorse that she sometimes turns on, Plus I have 2 blankets in there as well. We didn't put them in until I felt she couldn't suffocate herself on them and was really in control of her body.

Overnight Discussion - Ella - I was feeling the same way about burdening my parents with a baby who didn't sleep overnight for them and what my mom told me was "it's only one night, you guys need a break and do this all the time." and to tell you the truth she did really great. She slept until 11 and then until 6, so at that time that was a major thing for us. They wore her out so much that she slept great. It was new and fun and we are hoping this next month sometime we can do an overnight with Mike's parents

Those of you with family in town I would totally take advantage of overnights. I wish we could but my family is 5 hrs and my in laws a plane ride. My mom does not drive however she is coming in April to visit. My brother has a conference here. Also she is on oxygen so she can't handle him on her own. She would need my aunt to help and she is taking care of my grandmother and my uncles brother who has cancer so she can't come here. So until that settles down the only chance is if my mil comes to town this summer or if we get a sitter which most likely will happen in June and we will use my work bonus to pay for the sitter. . My dad won't watch him without us until he is a little older and can do things on his own more. He never even changed our diapers, but that was when things were a lot different too. Sorry for the rambling here.

Selin had her 2 year checkup today (no shots needed - yay!)

She weighs 23lbs and is 34-3/4in tall. She actually lost a pound since her appt with the specialist back in Dec but the ped isn't worried about it.

She grew 3in since her 18 mo checkup! She's in the 75th % for height and 25th % for weight. Looks like she'll be tall and skinny like her cousin (who is turning 4 in May but is already wearing 6x clothing!) Next checkup at 30 mos.

Happy Birthday Greyson!!!

Christine: I'm glad Selin had a good appointment and she's growing nice.

Crib Discussion: Around 10 months we started letting Teddy sleep with items in his crib, he has his glow worm and the light-up seahorse. He uses both to self soothe when he wakes up in the middle of the night. If he gets up too early for the day, and isn't in the mood to go back to sleep, I'll go and give him some additional toys to play with.

Happy birthday Greyson!

And happy birthday Juliet! (1 year Emmy, can you believe it?! I can't believe my girls are just 3 months away from a year too!)

Christine - Selin is tall! Are you and DH both over average height?

Re: Crib toys - thanks for your responses everyone! I feel pretty confident that the few things we leave in their cribs for them are safe. My bigger concern might be if they started playing with their toys when they should be sleeping... but so far, that seems not to be a problem.

AFM - we had Elia's 9 month well baby check today. Everything looked good. She's 19lbs 8oz now, about 60th percentile for her actual age (off the charts huge for her adjusted preemie age ;) ) And about 30th percentile for length. Still a shortie. It was nice to have an appt without her having to get shots. DH is taking Juliette to her appt tomorrow and I'm pretty sure she's even chunkier than Elia. Anyway, I can't believe that the next appt we have will be their 1 year! I am awed and amazed at how fast this first year is going by.
