Hi ladies!

Wow, only 4 days into a new month and over 40 posts for me to catch up on! I don't have much time to write but will try to do some personals from memory.

Kelly - I seemed to have missed a post from you re: your DH (even went back to the old thread), but whatever is going on I hope you guys will be able to work things out. (((HUGS)))

Lorien - Yay for Patrick's first step!

Anna - I am so sorry to hear DH is changing his mind. Hang in there and maybe things will change this summer, you never know!

Ash - Great to see you back!

I forgot who initially wrote about the only child thing but I am an only child as well and hated it. I always wanted a sibling because my only cousins are 6 and 8 years older than me. I think I am having a harder time dealing with it as an adult because I am not real close with any of my SILs so I have no siblings to talk to. I have 2 much older step-brothers but they are pretty much out of my life for different reasons. My mom has always told me that her biggest regret was not having another child but my parents divorced when I was just 4 years old. She even told this to me again the day or day after Selin was born. I know every only child is different but for me, it has always been a struggle, esp. since my DH is one of 3 and is close with both of his siblings.

AFM - Selin had her 2-mo checkup this weekend and she is doing great. She is almost 12 lbs now and she got 2 of her 4

Sarah - Yeah Jensen is so easy I'm sure we could manage ok on his end, I just worry if the next baby is his polar opposite and is really colic-y and fussy how we will manage kids with that age gap. My niece is 11 months older then Jensen so and she is his polar opposite, really cranky baby, screamed ALL THE TIME, and was a nightmare child. So I have a little window into what it would be like with one difficult child, and a little baby. And I know I couldn't handle another baby right now with the age gap being like that.

Anna - Those are Rob's reasons for WTT too. I made the deal with Rob that if we were financially unstable, we would hold off TTC, but that I wanted to know at some point in the future when things were good that we COULD TTC. Also I have made up my mind to save all our baby clothes and items for the next baby, and not give everything away to limit storage like my half sister did. She will have to start completely (and I mean completely, baby toys included) over when if she has another. And I say if because her husband is done after how difficult my niece is, and never wants kids again, while she wants 3 more. So maybe ask for a goal date and reassure him if you guys aren't ready you won't TTC. I'm sorry though hun, I know how hard it is to wait when you really want to have a baby.

stargirl1981 - sorry I don't know your name! Yay for Patrick taking his first step!!! I love his name too btw! Yay for buying a house!!!

Grace - Yay for still being pregnant! :)

Christine - Yay for Selin's good 2 month appointment! Shots are just the worst aren't they? And more on mom then the kiddos lol!

AFM - Rob got a job!!!! I am SO excitied!! He has been unemployed since November and it's been very hard on us understandably. He is going to be working Mondays-Thursdays, 10 hour shifts, and he will be making over $10 an hour!!! We are SO excited and thankful. The job is only temporary but this is a good company and if they like you they are good about finding you work somewhere. He starts tomorrow!!!

Christine - I KWYM about the shots hurting mama more than baby. I think I cried at Eliza's first shot. So sad to see them in pain; that sad little face breaks my heart. And although we're also WTT for at least a 1-2 more years, I SO hear you on missing being pg! I feel like a crazy person, but when I see a pg woman, I get jealous. I KNOW it's ridiculous, but I can't help myself. I absolutely adored every minute of my pregnancy. Even though I know it's not the right time right now (or anytime soon for that matter), I am really looking forward to being pg again. I know lots of women who have expressed the same feelings after having a baby, so I guess it's common ;)

So glad Selin is doing so well!

Lorien - yeah, I think all he responsibility of aging parents is going to fall on me too. I have a sister but she is literally a teenager trapped in a 30-yo's body. She can actually be quite selfish and a little irresponsible at times. She spends all her free time going to rock concerts with her friends and doesn't seem to have any desire to act like an adult. Which is fine - it's her life - but when it comes time to deal with some of those

Christine - my rant about DH was first posted in the Mommy Talk thread. I was just venting about how he never seems to verbally tell me that I am doing a good job with Elena. I was having a bad day and just really needed to get it out. We've actually kind of been okay since that day but I still haven't technically talked to him about it yet. I'm going to stop right there or I'll just start ranting again!

So sorry you had a hard time with Selin's shots! I know just how you feel. Elena's first shots were awful - she just cried so hard. Her second set at 4 months was almost worse because by then she was smiling all the time - she had actually been smiling there at the dr's office and then she got stuck with those awful needles and that beautiful smiling face just dissolved into crying. Ugh! A couple of people have asked if I'm going to get her ears pierced and I'm like, are you kidding??? :(

"So I guess we're WTT indefinitely :-("

Aww Anna! I'm so sorry I can imagine how sad you must be! Do you think if you were working a bit more it would help--or maybe if you made some kind of savings plan/budget? I agree, a second baby does NOT cost a whole lot more, especially if you are BFing and cloth diapering. But your DH sounds like someone that would feel more comfortable with something like a budget--I mean, if you laid out how much a second baby would really cost, and found a way to pay for it--maybe by working extra days (even while you were PG and go back to working less after you have him) or something, that would help DH feel more comfortable.

With that being said, idk what kind of BC you are using or how well you are using it, but accidents do happen . . . and honestly if you did end up PG, I'm sure you guys would both be happy (after the initial shock) and you would find a way to pay for it.

(((HUGS))) Hopefully something happens so you guys can work it out.

Shots are so hard. Eloise has always hated them, we don't start them till 4 months and only do 1 or 2 at a time. She screams and cries and is upset for ages after she gets a shot. Desmond wasn't that bad, until his most recent shot at 3. He got a TB test, which he hated, and then his MMR, since we delay/selectively vaccinate, and that is when the first MMR is on our schedule. He screamed when it went in, and when it came out the needle was bent at at 60 degree angle. He then tells DH and me in the most pitiful voice, "It hurts, right here." Holding onto his leg.

I hate shots!

Teddy had his 5 week check up yesterday and everything looks great! He is in the 97th percentile for height and weight, just about 13 pounds now and 23 inches, which is fun. He is as big as a few 3 month olds we know LOL.

Unfortunately he has already grown out of so much! 95% of his cloth diapers and 50% of his clothes are too small for him which is pretty annoying. I spent a good amount of money on diapers that we now can't use. But how could I know to start on mediums- I mean really who needs mediums by week 5??! Plus the chances that our next baby is significantly smaller are quite low so who knows if they will ever get used. Sigh. But DH doesn't seem to mind as he prefers the ease of sposies (although he will use cloth as long as he doesn't have to do the wash LOL).

So when we head back to the States in Sept for a visit I will just stock up and then hopefully that will be that. I don't have time to do the wash regularly now anyway so it isn't really that big of a deal.

Theo is smiling now but not because of anything specific. Right after he wakes up and has just been fed is the best time to get a smile which is quite fun. I can really tell that this 6 week time is when a lot of stuff is happening, he is making lots of new noises and has tons more expressions, although his pronounced lip quiver is still our personal favorite LOL.

My mom is coming to visit for 18 days next week and I am so excited! She has never been to Germany and it is going to be awesome. Plus I am so happy we waited to have her come until Teddy was a bit older as now we both are doing so much better and we will be able to do a lot of fun stuff together, instead of having my mom watch my breastfeed for hours on the couch LOL.

Ash- I hear you on the diapers. I don't do cloth but my boy is already in size 3's and he is only 5 months old. I keep wondering when he grows out of diapers as I know boys usually aren't potty trained until 3 years. At least that is what I heard but we'll see. I guess we'll use pull ups once he grows out of diapers.

Anna- Sorry your TTC plans are being put on hold. I hear you on the money thing though.

Amy- I agree with you on the baby clothes. While we aren't planning for awhile I plan to keep everything, (well unless I have a girl and then I will have to get all new clothes) and including my maternity stuff. I know if I give those away then the minute I do I will find out I am pregnant again. I am not giving all the baby stuff away until after we have our second and are done.

Kelly- my kids might not have any cousins either. My brother is going through a divorce and even though my sister in law (dh's sister ) is getting married this summer, she has expressed that she will never have kids. Maybe she will change her mind after she gets married. My brother and I grew up with no cousins. My one aunt/uncle couldn't have kids and it was days before adoption was big and then my other uncle was in the military and got sick so they couldn't have kids either. And my dad was an only child as his sister died right after birth.

David will have a lot of 2nd cousins close in age since dh's cousins both have babies and one is 4 days older than him and the other is almost 2 months younger than him. I just wish they lived closer.

I agree with the shots. I hate having see him get them but I know they are for the best and to prevent the diseases. Luckily he hasn't had any issues with them other than when we get home he has slept most of the day both times.

Well, David turned 5 months yesterday. I can't believe how fast he is growing. Sometimes I wish he would slow down. He also slept for 8 hrs last night!!!! I was so excited. I got about 7 1/2 hrs of sleep so that was great for me. I posted some pictures of David from yesterday on here that we took of him. I think part of the sleeping is because he is teething. He is constantly chewing but I know babies put everything in their mouths but the one day I went to look at his gums and he got mad like it was hurting him so I think he is. Plus his 2nd cousin (the one who is 4 days older than him) just got her 1st tooth. So we'll see what happens. I know you can teeth for months but I wouldn't be surprised if he had one before he turned 6 months.
