I had the same issues with Jensen. He would only sleep an hour on his own, but if we co-slept he slept 9 hours. I HATED co-sleeping though, it terrified me! Eventually we started with him sleeping in his swing which was a medium of 5 hours, and then got him moved to his crib. He still prefers to nap in our bed, but he has no problem STTN in his crib.

I don't have a ton of time for personals but David did sleep 8 hours the other night. Of course last night was a challenge and he ended up sleeping on me half the night as everytime I put him in his crib he'd wake back up crying. It was even after I fed him a 6 oz bottle. I don't really think he was hungry. So, I just slept with him on me and when I woke up I finally put him in his crib at 2:30 and he woke up at 5:30. I'm not sure why some nights like the other night he slept 8 hours (8:30 to 4:30) and then last night I put him to bed at 8:30 and he was up at 11:30. I guess you can never figure them out. I am not going to try and sleep train right now I'm just going to go with the flow for now and hopefully once we get through the teething maybe he'll sleep good again. I really think that is a big part of it. I'll just take every night hoping he'll sleep well and cherish the nights he does. I just wish he would sleep long during the week as I have to be up at 5:30. On weekends I can always go back to sleep.

if I don't get back on here I hope you all have a great Mother's Day. ..

Thanks for the wonderful siggie Dedi

Anna- I'm so sorry that your DH thinks like this right now. But you know... tha thing you told us about him being ok with NPP back in april means that he is not set against another baby. Just scared about $$$ right now. I bet once things get more stable economy-wise, he will be open to TTC again!

mini-rant: I used an Avent bottle the other day when I left Fede at MIL's for a few hours. I decided that I needed to sterilize it. Since we use the bottles so little, we never bought the sterilizer, and I've been doing the old fashioned "boiling in a pot" thing. Well, today, I forgot about it... until I smelled something like burning plastic.... rushed to the kitchen and found the melted remains of the bottle in the bottom of a waterless pot... GRRRRR!!!! they are so expensive!!! And I'm such an idiot!!!!!

Thank you all for the happy birthday wishes! I did make the turtle cupcake cakes, and Barrett thoroughly enjoyed his cupcake - although I didn't let him touch the turtle cakes - I needed those cupcakes to give out :) He got one frosted with extra frosting just so he could make more of a mess :)

Cara- I hope Tenley starts sleeping better soon. Barrett would not nap by himself at first but he just kind of grew out of that stage by around two months.

Amy - I'm so glad to hear that, that is very encouraging for me to know that Jensen will STTN in his crib now!

Sandy - It's true, you can never figure them out! Just when you think you know what's going to happen they switch things up on you. Sorry you had such a rough night.

Mari - That sucks about the bottle! I've totally been doing that kind of stuff though. I've left the burner on with an empty pan twice in the last couple of weeks. Yikes!

Brita - Happy belated birthday to Barrett! Thanks for the encouragement on our sleep issues, I'm really hoping by two or three months she'll be better.

AFM - We had the best night last night! I got T to sleep in her OWN bed all night for the first time ever! She would never sleep in the bassinet before, especially not at night. It took an hour to get her down, but then she slept for four hours. I fed her, took another half hour to get her back down and she's been down for almost FIVE hours now! It's unbelievable. I know she won't do this all the time, but at least it's a huge step in the right direction. At least I know she CAN do it, it's just a matter of if she will.

Cara - yay for Tenley sleeping in her crib last night! Woo hoo!!! Elena wouldn't sleep in her crib at first either, but it was only for the first week or so. Those first few nights were so bad - I'm not a co-sleeping type either, and neither is DH. We were both so paranoid about crushing her or smothering or having her fall off the bed or something, that for those first nights we actually just slept in shifts while the other stayed up with Elena. Oh it was awful! I'm sure that if it had persisted longer than that, we probably would have ended up co-sleeping though.

Mari - that totally sucks about the bottle! Classic mommy brain though. LOL. One day I put on a pot of water to boil and a few minutes later I started to smell something really strange. I looked at the stove trying to figure out what it was and realized I had turned on the wrong burner - and the one I had turned on still had the cover on it!

AFM - Elena has FINALLY figured out forward crawling! Yay! I mean she's been mobile for 3 months but she never actually crawled in a forward direction until now. LOL! She also pulled herself up to standing the other day so walking might not be far behind either! Aaah!

Kelly - yay for Elena crawling forward! Walking won't be far behind, I'm sure :)

Mari - what a story - yeah, that totally IS mommy brain, LOL!

Cara - WOOHOO for Tenley sleeping in the bassinet! The must be such a relief for you. And for four and five hours stretches!? That's fantastic! I hope the trend continues. Do you have any recent pics?

AFM - We took Eliza in to the ped this week to rule out an ear infection (which they did, thankfully - she'd been tugging on her ear and her nose had been runny for a week or so... but apparently she's totally healthy and just teething). So, they weighed her and she weighs 20 pounds! WHAT?! I don't know where she hides it... but OMG I can't believe she weighs that much. I'm starting to worry about how big she's getting... but she's EBF... I know I probably shouldn't worry, but of course that's what we moms do! She has her 6 month visit on the 19th, so I know we'll talk to her ped then (and I'm sure she'll say she's fine)... but there's part of me that thinks she just shouldn't be this big at only 6 months old!!?? *sigh* There's always something...

Ella,

Just wanted to pop in real quick to say that you're not alone with Eliza's weight. We went to my cousin's last weekend for a family party and DH and I held her SIL's 6 mo old DS. He weighs 19 lbs and is a moose! Even his head seems unusually large. I'm pretty sure he is on formula and baby food.

However, from the pics I've seen from your blog, Eliza seems pretty long so I wouldn't worry about it. Doesn't mean she'll keep gaining at the same rate every month either. No worries mama, you're doing a great job! :-)

Ella - Patrick was 20lbs at 6 months. And as we've seen, now he's only 22lbs at 12 months! I had the same worries as you. I could probably even dig up posts I wrote here about it :) But really, as an EBFed baby, don't worry at all. She's just storing up some reserves so she has something to burn through as she spends the next 6 months learning to crawl and walk!

On that note, Patrick took several steps in a row twice today! I was visiting a friend with a 10-year-old daughter who was all about teaching him to walk. It is so adorable to watch. I can't believe my baby is almost walking! I think DH and I are going to spend the weekend practicing with him.

Ok. I don't mean to be Debbie Downer especially on Mother's Day weekend but I need some help.

My aunt and my mom sent me Mother’s Day cards. No problem. But, she also sent a card to me that was from David. Well, dh got upset because he said that he should have given me that card since he is our son. Well, I told mom and she went off the deep end. I pretty much got chewed out. I just felt that the card she sent me was fine but Jason should have given David a card. Now he’s not giving David a card since he feels that he already got a card from me. He also feels that they always make him out to be the bad guy. This isn’t the first time this has happened either. I know you have issues with them well it really made me upset. Then she went on saying that if it was dh's parents he would have loved it. I told her actually no because dh told his mom to not send David useless stuff. She sent him a valentine’s bear for Valentine’s Day and parts of it could hurt David. He told her if she wants to send him something give him money for his college fund.

Ifhear one word about why we’re not going to Cleveland and going to Florida instead (my in laws live in Florida) this summer, I swear I will go off the deep end. I think they are mad we live in Indianapolis and don’t live in Cleveland but that is no reason to act like that. I have never heard my mom say some of those words to me before. I mean I know dh's mom is bummed she can’t see David but I never get a guilt trip from her. Plus I am able to tell her things I can’t even tell mom just because she seems to understand me. It seems I get along with my mother in law better than my own mother. I know it’s unusual but it’s true. It seems like her and nan get into our business all the time where as my in laws don’t.

As I said I am sorry. My dh is now mad at my mom but I don't want him and my family getting into it and me getting dragged into this whole thing. This isn't the first thing. My mom got mad at my other aunt because she is taking my sister in law in if she needs a place to stay. My brother and sister in law are getting a divorce. It's just a big mess.

Anyway I will try to have a good weekend and maybe dh will do something special for me and I'll forget all about it.

Hope you all have a good Mother's Day.
