Christine, I hope you can soften DH about changing jobs... or that by some miracle you can convince your boss... Hang in there.
Kelly, I suck big time at math!!! Here in Argentina, all the hard structural calculations are done by construction engineers, so I get all the fun design parts. I actually love designing, the part I hate about my independent job is the actual "search" for clients and the endless paperwork you have to do before the project is approved by gov.

Anna--YAY on TTCing being back on! June will be here in no time so hopefully DH doesn't have time to flip-flop again!

Christine--Sorry you are feeling so overwhelmed with the idea of going back to work. I would say one of the best things would be to try not to think about it right now, because the older she gets, the easier it will "feel" to think about going back to work. She is not even 3 months yet, so you aren't even halfway through your time with her--try to take each day at a time and enjoy it, otherwise you might look back on this time and realize that the only time you DID have as a SAHM, you wasted worrying about three months from now, KWIM?

(((HUGS))) You'll get through this, Mommy.

Anna, what a roller coster your dh is putting you on. I'll cross my fingers that he dosen't change his mind again.

Mari, congrats on the job! good luck :)

Christine, I understand wanting to stay home. Try and enjoy the 6 months you have. Its alot more then most of us US ladies get. I was kinda ready to go back to work and it wasn't as bad as i thought. Though now I would give anything to get to stay home atleast part time with Simon. Though with DH in college I don't really have a choice because I refuse to go on federal assistance just so I can stay home. I think that is really irrisponsible. Anywho don't sweat it and jusy enjoy your time. Maybe your boss will surprise you.

Hi all you other wonderful mommas!

Simon has started taking a big interest in what DH and I are eating. We had ice cream the other night and Simon informed me that he wanted some. I gave him a tinny bite off my spoon figuring he would just spit it out but he kept it all in and down. We tried cereal yesterday morning and he did really good with the spoon. I know ots earlier then recomendations but if he is showing me signs of being ready I'm not going to ignore that. He is still getting mostly formula. He actually took the spoon away from me this morning and tried to feed himself.

We are giggling and talking. Still not really rolling over. If mommy rolls him onto his tummy and his arm is still under him he will sometimes push back. So i guess thats a start in the right direction. He went down at 7:30 last night and didn't wake up till 7 this morning. We had a friend over with her 10 month old. I guess Kenzie just wore Simon out!

Don't really have time for personals today. I am glad that it sounds like everyone's babies are doing great.

Eloise and I went to Atlanta without Desmond last weekend for my sister's Law School Graduation. It was a lot of fun. I thought I would miss Desmond a ton since it was 3 nights away, but honestly I didn't really miss him all that much. I had kind of hoped he would wean while I was gone, but he didn't. I have restricted his nursing to only first thing in the morning and before bed since I got back though, and it is making me feel so much happier. The having him ask to nurse 12 additional times a day is a bit of a pain, but it is really nice only having him nurse twice a day.

Eloise and I had a ton of fun with just the two of us and my parents. It was kind of weird since she has never been apart from Desmond for more then an afternoon. She is apparently one of those kids that you can tell "no leave that alone," about fragile items and such and she will. Color me shocked. I still have to move most breakables out of Desmond's way at 3. She is also such a little diva. She loves her new sunglasses and will put them on and say
"tah dah" and throw her hands in the air and pose. She also loves her 3 new pairs of shoes that Nonnie bought her. The child has more shoes then I do!

Desmond had fun at home with DH, they went swimming, went o his soccer class, which is about 15 minutes to long for him, went to his gymnastics and swimming classes too, and generally kept busy.  He really liked that fact that Daddy let him have pizza daily.

Other then that the rest of the week has been pretty quiet. We are probably going strawberry picking this weekend, which should be lots of fun. Desmond loved berry picking at 14 months and I am sure Eloise will too.

Thanks everyone for the advice re: changing jobs and bottle issues. It really lifts my spirits. :-)

DH has come around and agreed I could start looking for a new job so I have been job hunting the last few days and now I remember how much I hate it. It seems I'm almost over qualified for most PT jobs out there, as I'm nearly done with my Masters, but I'm applying anyway. I've always had pretty good luck with jobs (knock on wood) so I know something will work out and whatever is meant to be, will be.

Today Selin and I went to visit a co-worker of mine who had a baby boy just about 2 weeks after me. He pretty much slept the entire visit so the babies didn't really get to "play". I even brought my camera with me hoping to take some pictures of them together but it didn't work out. When one was awake, the other fell asleep and vice-versa. LOL

Sunday is Selin's baptism and I'm hoping for good weather and a happy baby. My mom is having everyone over to her house for lunch and cake afterwards. We just kept the invite list to family only because between our two families, we were already up to about 25 people.

Have a great weekend everyone and I promise next week I will be better at personals! :-)

Popping in with a quick "proud mama" upadate. LOL. Elena has been getting really good at pulling herself to standing lately, and today she was trying to stand without holding on to anothing at all, and succeeded for a few brief milliseconds - LOL! Then her arm flew out and she instantly steadied herself to avoid falling. She is very careful and calculating with her movements sometimes, almost like she can foresee that some actions are going to have not so nice consequences. (Unfortunately this doesn't apply to every situation - like trying to crawl/roll off the bed for example!) She also took a couple of steps along the coffee table today so she may actually officially be cruising soon! Oh and while I'm updating, I may as well mention that tooth #5 showed up today too!

I hear ya on the teething. David has been such a monster lately. I feel it and can't wait for it to show up so he can stop being fussy. He has been sleeping at night but won't sleep during the day. He doesn't want to even eat (it must hurt). The only thing he will eat with no issues is baby food and cereal maybe because he doesn't have to suck. I am going to try teething tablets today. Anyone use any pain relievers for teething? Did it work?

Congrats on the milestones though.

Sarah - Glad you had a great visit with Eloise and your family. That is nice that you're able to leave Desmond with your DH for a few days. LOL about DH letting him eat pizza every day!

Kelly - Def. sounds like Elena will be cruising very soon and yay for more teeth! How exciting! How's the job hunt going? I've been seeking out specific companies in my area because I'm finding that the listings that are on their corporate sites aren't necessarily found in the typical job search engines (Monster.com, etc.)

Sandy - Sorry to hear about David's teething woes. I don't know anything about those tablets, sorry!

AFM - Sunday was Selin's baptism and it couldn't have gone better. It was a beautiful sunny day and the ceremony was lovely. The same priest who married DH and I did the ceremony and he does such a nice job and throws some humor into it so it's not so boring. Selin was very well-behaved as well and couldn't wait to get out of her gown because the fabric was not really breathable.

Yesterday, Selin and I went to see the movie 'Babies'. One of the theaters near us has "mommy matinees" every Tuesday and since DH didn't want to see it, I thought it was a good opportunity for me. It was cute but just so-so but Selin behaved really well in the theatre so it was a treat for me to get out to the movies. I told DH we should try to have a date this weekend. We haven't gone out by ourselves since Selin was born. My MIL has been anxious to watch her for us so I figured it would be a good trial run if we went out for breakfast or lunch without baby. I wouldn't dare leave her with anyone but DH at nighttime just yet as that is by far the most difficult time of day with her, lol.

Unless I change my mind tonight, I am planning to relinquish our two cats to a no-kill shelter tomorrow. They are 6 years old and I've had them since they were kittens but it's just not working out for us anymore, esp. now with a baby in the house. We've been contemplating giving them up since I was early on in my pgcy but kept saying we'd see how things go after the baby got here. I feel bad giving up on them but they are stressed out and DH and I just don't have the time or energy to devote to them. Our house is so small too so there is constantly litter everywhere (no matter how many times I vacuum) and they are always getting into stuff (chewing the blinds, eating food left on the kitchen counter, etc.) DH and I just don't have the patience any more and they deserve a better home. It is going to be hard emotionally and weird not having pets but I have to put Selin's safety first. :*-(
