I remembered in thinking about my ridiculous non-baby related rant that we used to have a spot for things like that!

How about a Mommy check in?

Name (DH/SO Name):

What's your current occupation?

Tell us a work story (SAHM's, get creative!)

How are things with DH/SO?

what a hypocritical b*tch!!!! I really, really hope you can go to a grievance... just to show them!! You know.. after all that has happened.. maybe it's a good thing you are not working for this people. I truly hope you find a better job somewhere else.

Ruby - OMG, I'd lose it on her!! I agree with Mari - I hope you can file a grievance, and it might be for the best you're not working with them anymore.

Jess - Wow, I'd lose it on DH! WTF?? The only reason why I could see that kind of comment would be okay is if you've complained yourself about your eating habits and want him to help you with it. But, if that's not the case, then he just needs to shut his trap!

Congrats Cassie!!! I'm so happy for you. I bet you will look back on your life in a few months and not even believe how things used to be. I'm sure this will be such a positive change for you and your family:)

Ruby,

That's a doozy of a decision on your hands. If you get the contract but then by the grace of God find something permanent elsewhere, can you get out of the contract? I feel your pain to find a job - my DH is on me almost daily for an update on my job search.

AFM - I'm in a daycare predicament once again. I freaking hate having to find a new sitter for Selin every 6 mos it seems! My current sitter has been watching her FT since I started the new work from home temp gig but she just told me that she has a new PT child coming to her home T-Th so as of July 11th, she can only watch Selin on Monday's/Fridays due to her licensing regulations. I understand that she had to move forward because I don't have a perm job yet an therefore no definite answer for her, but I doubt I will find someone else who is walking distance from our house and licensed.

Add to all that that my boss doesn't know yet how much he'll need me in July and august so it's making finding a sitter tricky. Oh and we're going on vacation next week so I really need to have someone lined up like this weekend - ha! I already told my boss that until I can find another sitter, I'll only be available on M/F and at night. He understands he's taking a risk by not giving me a definite answer on work flow for the next two months.

Oh then today I finally talked to my other boss about the possible FT position and he still doesn't have anything firm to tell me. The VP is retiring next week and it's been rumored that some of the PT ladies might leave as well so he said if that's the case, then there would be a need (and money) for me. He said I have a definite interview and possible offer if it all works out.

I have been so stressed since finishing student teaching about not knowing what direction my life is going (career wise and TTC wise) but I know somehow, everything will fall into place. Still dreaming of the day DH says I can be a SAHM and no longer have to worry about finding sitters, etc.

Ruby- I am so glad that your union is really supporting you in this. I would definitely go ahead with the grievance process but I think for you in the end it would be better to take the dunk driving course. You'll feel good working, and like you say you won't actually have to interact with any of them if you don't want to. I know how much you hate staying at home so I think even having a non-permanent job is better then nothing- or doing something completely unrelated to your studies.
Have you and DH thought at all about moving? This whole agency sounds so terrible...

Christine- I hope everything works out for you and your job situation. The babysitter stuff is tough!

Ruby, I agree with the others... I think you should keep working on the drunk driving course and keep looking for somehting. As soon as something better opens up, you can start the grievance and say FU to them. I know what you say about your pride... and honestly, if you were the kind who loved to SAH, I would go for that, but you are not, you are suffering from all this inactivity, and I really think your mental health and good humor are worth more than a vague feeling of pride!

Christine I have had sitter issues too. And I agree I cannot wait to stay at home too and then would only have to worry about a night or wknd sitter. However I wont get to stay at home until after#2 and I have to remenber that is,why we are waiting to ttc until nxt summer so our debt is pd off so we can afford me to stay at home.

Ruby that is a tough call. i agree with the others that for your mental wellbeing you should teach the class. This will atleast get you some out of the house time you need.

Christine, sitter searching is hard. i have been looking for months for a different one with more kids so Simon can get some interaction but they are all no where near the right side of town. that and i would have to pay 5 to 7 more a day. Now i have the fun of finding a whole new childcare person back home. i know my mom has asked around some.
